With the season approaching, I was in the mood to make a couple calls for friends. These are both from birds I killed last spring...
First one is with the ball cut off...Western Diamondback skin...and a Whitetail antler lip-stop, and a few plastic beads and leather to make an adjustable lanyard...

This one is with the wing "ball" left on with irregular "vents" to let out sound...Canebrake rattler skin...some artificial sinew and another beaded adjustable lanyard...

You got some mad skills bro!
Very cool!
Excellent craftsmanship with a nice personal touch on each one!
Wow very nice  Maybe someday you could do a build along on this awesome calls
those are sweet, I'm going to have to try one one of these days. Great job Curt.
Thanks again fellas...I might do a little build-along.
But I bet if you did a search you'd find one here someplace already.
I will say one thing...putting snakeskin full length on an irregular shape is not easy!! :banghead:
I'm used to working on parallel arrows. They seem like a piece of cake now compared to skinning a yelper...
Man those would make an awesome giveaway, hint, hint
You have some serious trad skills sir.
WOW very nice.
Nice calls Curt,
I collect turkey calls, hint hint. LOL
If you ever want to let loose of one let me know.
Kris

Works of art Guru...I have already stole your string tracker idea and now have it good to go for April. Don't think I am ready to tackle those beautiful yelpers yet though...Awesome!

Man those calls are some thing else. Gotta love the snake skin.
Really some nice work.
Great stuff Curt!
The one I got from you at the 3rd JLMBH will always be special to me.
Larry
The ball joint looks pretty slick.
I love the carver bone one the best also like the others. What kind of bone is it.I also have made wing bone calls over the years.
I like how you did the Humerous bone.
I will have to give that a whirl.
I just did up 6 last week and now just need the ol'lady to do the final touches.
Thanks for sharing.
Paul
That's some slick work Curt.
Awesome job Curt.
The snake skin looks outstanding on those calls. You have inspired me to try something other than small pieces of leather or hide.
Curt those look amazing! :notworthy:
Matching arrow puts it way over the TOP!!! now we need a pic of dead gobbler on the stone fence with arrow and call visible....TB COVER!
OH....MY "O" MY..........S W E E TTTTTTT  :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Those look great Curt. Love the vented wing joint. I'm going to have to try that.
Do you like using the gobbler wings? I've always thought the hen wings make better sounding calls.
I just make them out of whatever I have available.
I do like the way the smaller hen bones sound, but to be honest I've never even used one myself hunting.
I just make them for donations, gifts, and such.
I still have a set of bones from each wing of my '08 fall hen. I think I know where they might end up tho...
I really should learn how to use one and try to kill a bird with one of my own calls....hmmmm :archer:
I've never made one or used one, but you got me wanting to try both. I'll have to get a turkey first this spring
Great looking calls!!! I really like the ones with the wing ball on them!!!!!  :notworthy:
Curt, Try'em...they work pretty good. I've used ones that I've made quite abit.
I've always used reed calls and the occasional box call but when packing all the stuff in my garage a couple days ago; I pulled a wingbone call that Bernie made for me about 6 years ago or so off my bow rack and started playing with it. I'm not great but I think I could get a love stricken gobbler into range with it.
excellent! beautiful work Curt.... I'm sure they probably sound even better than they look if that's possible. DW you lucky devil you...
