Andy my friend you have a way of making history remembered. Thanks.
A real man's man for sure
Here are a few i really enjoy
Notice the shoes in this one..thats a Tiger Fish he's holding One of Africa's premier Game Fish.
Used to spend a lot of time on the Zambezi and Lake Kariba after them.
The majestic Kudu bull
(http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h101/tradtusker/00small67789700.jpg)
My favorite to hunt the Warthog
(http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h101/tradtusker/3516.jpg)
Great pics!! Thanks for sharing Andy! :archer:
I love the Wild of the African Bush that comes though in these photos,
(http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h101/tradtusker/00small77098353.jpg)
The "Dagga" Boy as some of us call it.
Cape Buffalo
(http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h101/tradtusker/00small73786704.jpg)
"Dagga" is the Zulu word for Mud, old bulls once kicked out of the herd are referred to as Dagga boys. The bulls roll in it to protect themselves from the sun and the insects
Those shoes look like converse all-stars.
That's a nice Kudu, That is a dream hunt. I would love to harvest a KuDu. Now if I could just win the lottery I could go a try my luck at a Kudu.
Wow!!! Did Mr Bear actually kill a Tiger?
Great pictures! I hadn't seen some of them. Thanks for posting.
Fred Bear did kill a Tiger Yes.
That picture of him with the Stone Sheep has always been one of my absolute favorites. Good stuff Andy.

The chap you see alongside Fred in these Photo's is an African PH by the name Wally Johnson.
If you have an interest you can read a book about him titled "The Last Ivory Hunter: The Saga of Wally Johnson" By Peter Capstick
Its filled with some great African hunting stories and accounts.
Very nice pics man. Great to see Fred Bear in his element.
I thought he was ON his element. Never mind, he's on his elephant.
Great pics. Fred Bear was the MAN.
Great pictures and thanks for sharing them Andy!
The pic of Fred resting by the small campfire is one of my favorites, I have a copy of it in my basement shop.

I really enjoyed those pictures and would love to see more.

Thanks for sharing them Andy. Lots of "classics" in the bunch.
I can remember watching some of Fred's adventures on TV as a young kid. That was back in the old days with only 3 channels too! It was absolutely captivating.
Fred the personification of a "bowhunter" in every meaning of the word. A true trail blazer in so many ways. Fought for bowhunting when there were next to nothing in the ways of seasons and recognition of the bow and arrow as a means to kill a big game animal. An inventor and business man who's bows and broadheads are still being used today to take game all over the world.
I too have a number of pics of Fred up in my workshop and watch some of his adventures on DVD when I am in my shop.
THANKS FRED!!!!
did he hunt with his takedown bow? they all look like one piece bows to me.
Andy- That is a compass in his glove. Arrow30- His takedown design wasn't marketable until the late sixties. Hre's the copy of that glove that I make Andy. (http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff82/ygrant87/glove050.jpg)
Very cool thank you very much for sharing.
Outstanding Job on the glove Grant :clapper:

Thanks Andy for posting those pics. Although I've seen them many times I never get tired of seeing them again. My favorites have always those taken on the Little Delta.

I believe the man to Contact is Tom Phillips here on tradgang, he my be able to help you out with good Quality pics and he's a good guy
Hi Andy,
Great bunch of pics. I've got a HUGE file of photos of Fred and I saw a couple here I hadn't even seen before! :D
You may know that the 1st pic of Fred by the campfire, (which was used on the cover of the 1978 Bear catalog) was taken from a scene from the film "The Good Earth".
I actually have the ORIGINAL 8"x10" color negative of that exact picture! Here is a cropped pic of it: (it's hard to photograph):
It's a personal favorite in my collection! Thanks for bringing some great memories back for all to enjoy....
Best regards,

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
Guys, there are books about Fred Bear; videos of his hunts, etc. You need to invest in the father of modern bowhunting and learn who he was.
As for his takedown bow, he didn't even make one until he was in his late 60's, so Fred did most of his hunting with his one piece bows.
The history is out there...on the internet, and a few great books and videos. Money spent wisely my friends. I'm really surprised at the lack of knowledge on such an icon, with so much reference available.
