Title: One short of a Dozen
Post by: Autumnarcher on February 24, 2010, 07:35:00 PM
I just finished building a dozen new arrows a few weeks ago, which turned out real nice. 5/16 Hexpines, fletched with 4 4" feathers, and tipped with a 125 tip along with a 75gr Woodyweight. Finished out at 620gr cut at 28" BOP. They fly real nice off my MOAB.

Got done doin my taxes, and headed for the basement to go to my happy place. On my forth shot.....

Dang if I can keep a dozen arrows a dozen for long. Shooting good tight groups=Good Busting a brand new arrow=Bad.

Next time build 12 targets to shoot each arrow at, you may keep the dozen longer.

Good shootin though

Autumnarcher, OUCH!!! Nice looking Woodsies.
Now I'd keep shooting 5 and relish the other 6.
You're going to have to start building them Bakers dozen at a time.

Don’t want to be bearer of good news…but that’s what’s supposed to happen. Better start makin’ some more dozens. Enjoy, Rick.

My bag target is a burlap cover with a bear on one side, and a 5 spot target on the other. I hate shooting at 5 spots, never seem to shoot as good than when I shoot at an animal target.

The smaller the bulleye the better. We will put a 1" piece of tape on the bag to start. Or else I will shoot my first arrow at a specific arrow hole in the bag. After that, then I aim at the nock of my arrow. This isnt the first time I've split one, but usually i just knock the nock off. I sure hated to bust one of these shafts. But, eveything comes at a price. I guess accuracy is no exception. Usually I only shoot 3 arrows. This time I shot 5, and busted my arrow with #4.

Ithink I'll hang a life saver from a string in front ofthe bag for this weeks shot challenge. Gotta shoot the hole. Sure will be glad when this snow is gone so I can get some serious spring stumpin in before turkey season.

I usually just break one over my knee and get it over with when I get a new dozen.

The rest will have to fly from now on, in missing man formation.
