Does anyone have any plans to make your own arrow cut-off tool using a Dremel tool????? :bigsmyl:
Thanks!

i made a simple dremel cutoff jig once, then realized it was easier to just do it free hand with the dremel (and carbide bit), with maybe a tiny bit of truing up on a fine sanding wheel afterwards. this is for carbons only!

i did a home remodeling job with ceramic tiles around the kitchen sink and bought a small electric tile cutting tool with a 4" diamond cutting wheel. Also worked real well for cutting carbon shafts cost around 50 bucks at lowes.

Harbor Freight has a nifty little mini chop saw that works.
I screwed mine down to a 4 foot long 8 inch wide wood base. I screwed down a piece of 1 X 1 aluminum angle that is 36 inches long so it line the arrow up with the chop saw. I used a mini C clamp and a small block of cocobolo I had for holding the arrow in place. I dremeled out a hole for the nock to slip into the block at just above the aluminum angle and then gently tapped in a finish nail in the middle of the hole to hold the nock. I also mounted a metal measuring stick to the auminum angle so I can see the length I am cutting at a glance.
I got the idea from Brock at Bull Mountain Archery. He loaned me his home made cutter as a model. Once I had the componenets I put the system together in 20 minutes in my garage.
Buy some 3 inch cutting wheels and take the shield off the chop saw, throw away the blade it comes with it is junk.
The system works great, I cut 2 dozen shafts to length and cut 2 dozen external footings for them in about 35 minutes right after I got done building it.

If you happen to have a metal cut off saw for pipe, angle iron and the like it works just as well for arrows.

I don't think I would take the safety shield off of that saw. The cutoff wheel gives way and you're going to need an Eye Doc.
Find a shop that uses a 4" grinder-cutoff tool and have them save their used wheels. They will be 2".

For wood I use a hacksaw, the fine teeth cut it clean with ease.

I just put my power drill in a vise so the blade is verticle and I cut a slot in a piece of 1x 6. The blade lines up with the slot and I roll the arrow across the blade... simple... and cheap.
