Mods...I'm asking for forgiveness, in lieu of permsiion....lol. So, forgive me if this is in the wrong section.
I want to cut down on some layers, next year, when it gets cold, here (I hunt, late season, in the teens and 20's, AM's). How warm is the lined, wool jacket from Jeff (GWW). I just picked up 3 Filson vests(bought one from a TG'er, last year....and LOVE them). With an UA coldgear top...and the vest....would I be OK with just the jacket?

You'd be just fine if you get rid of that UA Cold Gear. To me the Cold Gear was great if I was moving around, but if I sat in it on stand, it made me feel cold even when I was not. Try some Traverse gear from Sitka or some Smartwool for base layers. Lined GWW is hot stuff.
Jeff made me a wolfskin suit, last year. It's one of the best garments I own.....

How about a merino wool "base" layer (treestand hunting)? You like that better than the UA? I've got a vest, but I haven't pulled the trigger on anything else.
While I got ya....how about merino wool for elk hunting? I hear it's really versatile (temp-wise....in the variance it can accomodate).

I would suggest just the opposite. Keep the UA cold gear as the base layer and then layer Wool Power over it. It's the ultimate cold weather sit combo 1-2 layers. IMHO
Then put on the GWW wool and laugh at the cold!

YES. Any of the Merino wools, the Firstlite, Smartwool, Ulfrotte, Justin Charles, Filson, ect. are EXCELLENT base layers. However, most of mine sit in a plastic tub since I started wearinging the Sitka Gear. To me it does all the wools do, but wicks moisture better when active, and dries quicker when I stop.
The lined GW jacket is plenty warm. I got mine unlined so that I could layer as needed underneath, making it more usable in a wider range of temperatures. If you're getting it just for when it is very cold, the lined jacket is great.
I picked up the GWW Wool Camp Shirt late last season. I typically have trouble staying warm, however, I would wear two base layers of wool (200 and 400 Ullfrotte), then the Camp Shirt with a Sitka Celcius vest over the top. I wore this combo into the low twenties.
I would not say I was toasty warm, but I was comfortable enough to sit in the stand for 3 plus hours.
I also have a bunch of Filson stuff, which I love, however, I do think the GWW is a little thicker wool.

My lined GWW jacket is plenty warm, but up here in ND the late season requires additional layers. My favorites are silk underwear followed by wool underwear for the bases; then a shirt; then a GWW insulated vest beneath whatever coat I am wearing (often a Filson Double Mac when it's really cold).

Merino wool base layers are awesome but I think the UA cold gear is ok too, especially for active hunting. I like the silk for warmer conditions. I don't have experience with the sitka base layers but as far as outer layers go the wool breathes way better than sitka and is warmer.
Here's my cold morning trees tand wardrobe....
Smartwool merino thermals top and bottom....filson wool sweater, wool vest with hand warmers in the pockets, GWW wool lined pull over with the cinch down sleeves...and GWW lined wool pants with foot warmer liners in my boots.
Hey Terry, hows that smartwool thermals compare to the ulfrotte ones? Just googled them and they look pretty good. Just curious.

I have a predator wool jacket with wind barrier lining and insulation that is great for sitting, but too warm for moving. I looked inside and the tag says Hidden Wolf Woolens. Is that before it was called Gray Wolf Woolens. I can't remember his last name but believe his first name was Mark, who had the company then. I have the bibs that go with the jacket and it was one of the best buys I ever made.

Yes.....the man's name that previously owned, and actually came up with some of the "predator patterns" was Mark Barger.
I can't speak for the wool from Grey Wolf Woolens, but both my wife and I own a complete set of Predator Deception with lite loft insulation and the windshear in wolfskin. The workmanship is second to none and we have both been very happy with them. They are kinda pricey, but when you only have to buy something ONE TIME........it was well worth it in my opinion. I havent had the pleasure.....yet......of owning any wool clothing, but in our area the insulated wolfskin does us just fine. Jeff Aulik (spelling) is the current owner and he changed the name from Hidden Wolf to Grey Wolf. We purchased our gear right at the time that he was taking over the business. He is a very nice guy, and a real pleasure to deal with.
In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the Predator patterns.......they don't appeal to the human eye that much, but they sure make you disappear in the woods.

Icebreaker is 100% wool and very nice...quite pricey though. iagree that UnderArmour is good only when you are moving. I live in Canada and hunt at -30 at times and you cant beat wool baselayers, they also seem to stay smelling fresh longer than synthetics.
