Maybe a dumb ?, but can a guy get a supply of old Razorheads and bleeders anymore without having to hit the garage sales and ****? My dad used to swear by em, god rest his soul! I'd shoot em if i could find a source!
They pop up occaisionaly. Keep an eye on the classifieds.
They aren't making bleeders anymore and I've found them to be harder to come by then Razorheads.
Years ago I had a friend give me several packs with the bleeders and the cleaning tools still packaged. I used them and shared them with several people. I still have a coupe dozen of the broadheads. I wish I would of kept them packaged.
One of my friends still hunts with them and likes them. He says why change from something that worked for so many years.
I'm down to 9 of them now, and constantly on the look out for them. There's plenty out there but the price seems to just keep going up on them, I don't use the bleeder blades with them.
You just have to keep your eyes open. I find them occasionally at the flea markets. You can put an ad in your local paper as well. You may be surprised the response you get.
By the way, the Bear Razorhead Machine (yes I said machine) spit out a broadhead every five seconds, so there are quite a few of them out there, you just have to try all the avenues.
George....who has the machine now?
Let's buy it!
Ok, ok.....I'll buy it!
I don't know Biggie, it is probably at the factory I would guess. If you have a chance to see Fred's video, "Rural Route 1, Grayling, Michigan", it shows the machine in action.
Can I just rent it for a day.
I just picked some up at a gun show, they were on Bear arrows, new condition. I almost felt bad when the guy took $10 for the six of them, almost :bigsmyl:
They're still out there. Again, keep an eye on the classifieds. That'll be your best source. And if you find some bleeder blades, buy all you can get your hands on.
I've been using them for forty years. They aren't that hard to find. How many animals do you think you're gonna kill, anyway? I don't shoot them for practice (at least, not often). GY
Check ****. I just found 3 different post on there. One had a pack of 6 with bleader in the original package never opened. And the other post had 26 broad heads with about 6 of them with bleaders.
I was the told the Bear Razorhead machinery has been gone for years never to be again.I believe Bowdoc told me some time ago !! What a shame.
Few ways that I have found them are on assorted classifieds and through ****, but that may not be an option. I have bought a couple of assortments of old Bear arrows that were pretty much junk and taken the heads off. With a bit of touch up they were just fine.
Wish we could get ahold of that machine! I'd run off a few...thousand...and pass it on! :)
Their one of those things I always keep an eye out for.
Last year a guy I'd known as a club friend for around 5 years moved to Australia an the last time I saw him he gave me a dozen old bears he'd resently been given himself.
Garage sales, second hand stores, they all get a good looking through.
I also got quite a few from a gentleman on one of these archery sites a couple of years ago.
All he wanted was a selection of NZ currency as he collects old money ect from overseas.
I made sure he got some current and some discontinued,,,more than the heads are worth in today $$,but less than their worth to me.
Post a thread asking to buy some,ya' never know what will come up.
oh yeah that machine has been disassabled for a good many years and the parts have been scatterd to the four winds bd
I keep my eye out for them at a local flea market every Saturday during the summer. I can usually get them for a dollar a piece.
bowdoc, "oh yeah that machine has been disassabled for a good many years and the parts have been scatterd to the four winds bd"
That hurts to even think about it.
Try Ted at Raptor Archery (a sponsor here) He got some for me last summer and had a few dozen left. some had been taken off arrows but all were in great shape.
