Title: Help With Arrows
Post by: Tyler2045 on February 22, 2010, 05:14:00 PM
I got a bunch of wood arrow shafts here recently and I want to make some arrows for a up coming shoot. A full length shaft sticks out about 6 inches in front of the bow, about how much should I cut off.

Most guys leave 1/2 to 1 inch for the broadhead to clear, past your draw lenght. You may have to shoot some longer and see how they shoot bare shaft, to check and see how their spine is.

they are supposed to be 45 to 50 pounds, the one I made full lenght just seemed a little front heavy

I could be wrong but when you cut them down it will stiffen up the shaft.I leave 1" out front from my draw length. Can you put the bow on a scale and find out what pound the draw is.and Use Stu Millers spine calculator to get it rite.
