Hello everybody. I decided it was time to get out since all the rain has stopped. Went to my favorite public haunt, Fort Hunter Liggitt military training base. They allow public hunting on the base. It is 165,000 acres and divided into 30 training/hunting areas. I took a little walk on 2 of the areas this weekend. Put close to 15 miles on the boots. Did not even see any sign untill about mile 12 on Sunday mid day but had a great walk. Here are some pics.

Thanks Pops. I've heard a lot about FHL but have never seen pics! How's your pig hunting schedule this spring? Did you hear Chopper has reopened?
Looks like a great spring day, I'm enjoying all that rain you had as snow now. Can you say cabin fever.
Looks like a good time.I need to get out again.
Saturday afternoon i changed areas because i did not see any sign at all in the one i was in not even a track. The new area was a littel better but not much. Here are some pics of the next area.

My first stump of 2010. You have to get good at ageing these Oak stumps out here. They have been known to eat a few of my arrows; they chewed up one on this trip.
O by the way that is my new to me Boarder Black Douglas Swift, 50# @28 I draw 31", 62" HEX 4 limbs; I do like how it shoots.

A little more to come.
Great pics... I am wishing for spring time!!!
Thats a pretty mean set of tusk's on that pig. If you shoot it it might turn around and bite back.
That area looks great, we have 2 feet of snow still on the ground.
Things started to look up in this area Sunday morning. Ran into 3 herds of elk and these gals stuck around long enough for me to get out my camera. There is a lot of elk on the base and I have see some of the largest non-typical headgear here than anywhere in any magazine or on TV.

Well its about 12:00 and my feet say its time to head to the truck, I make my way back down to the road that will take me back to the entrance gate, the area I was in is a park and walk area. I start down the road and decide what the heck and make my way to the riverbank and wouldn't you know it after all weekend of climbing the hills here they are in the bottoms.
Doing a little teeth cleaning

Hey there Beach. I have a hunt at Tejon Ranch in March, Then Im off the Arkansas in april and Kansas in June. Im going to try to do some hog hunting on the trips out of state.
I was already committed to Tejon or I would have booked at Choppers for sure.
