Looking for any help in planning a diy hunt in SE Ohio.
Google "Wayne National Forest". Thousands of acres of public land in south and southeast Ohio with most of it open to hunting and camping.
Best thing to do first is go to this link
http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife/tabid/6522/Default.aspx
You can get all the info on regulations, tags, bag limits, etc. Also there are links from that page to maps of public land wildlife areas.
I hunt private land in the middle of the state, so I cant be much help when it comes to public land. The south eastern part of the state is usually regarded as the best bet. The is quite a bit of public land down there. Zaleski SF is well regarded and I have heard good things about Shawnee SF (more south central I believe).
Sorry I cant be more help, but the ODNR site is a good place to start.

Oh yea. I forgot about Tar Hollow SP. I know the Christian Bohwunters hold a hunt there every year. Check out

I know alot of the people involved with this hunt and you wont find a better group. I am sure if you were to attend that hunt, you would have loads of help finding good areas to hunt. It isnt a guided hunt, just real friendly folks.
Great info here, I really want to hunt Ohio myself.
DO what I did, make some good friends in Ohio here then get invited to hunt. Of course they all get to come here to hunt turkeys, deer, bear(all over the counter) or a moose if they draw a tag. ;)
I go to the Tar Hollow Hunt every year. I recommend it.
Last year i hunted Salt Fork Wildlife Area in Guernsey County. Saw a bunch of Deer and even missed a big one with my wheelie bow. It was a great time and completely DIY. i think there is like 15000 acres of public land there.
You might want to try the many coal companies that have easy access to some great hunting ground in south eastern Ohio. I have hunted the peabody coal co. for years and with great results. Good luck, Dave.
