I have some damage on the handle part of the riser on my bow, it is pitted and down to the wood in many places. This was the direct result of using deet insect repellent, earley season. My question is how do I go about repairing it..Thanks.
Sandpaper and Poly.
Ok Bobby thanks. One more question. Does the poly need to be oil or water based?
Polyurethene will usally go over anything,I haven't had any problems using polyurethene for touch ups.But one thing if the finish is down to bare wood and it is an oily wood like cocobola or bacote. You will need to seal the bare wood with some super glue, then sand and use polyurethene.
If it is truly down to bare wood you might want to seal with glue anyway. The wood may have absorbed the deet.
If it's small tiny marks clear nail polish works
Super glue followed by poly, Got it :campfire:
