I am generally a woodie shooter, but I am liking the looks of these arrows. Does anyone shoot them? I would like to know your setup for getting the weight up. Also, any pics of them with wraps and feathers would be great. Thanks, Lonnie
Shoot them and love them. 29" Maxima 350 arrow with 100 grain brass insert and 250 grain field point weighs in at about 605 grains finished with FOC around 27%. Shoot well out of high performance recurves in the 55-65 pound range. This is the all black Maxima's, not the black and camo. The black and camo weigh more than the all black.
That sounds like a great setup. Is the 350 for that pound range or did you have to go stiff for your setup? Thanks for the post.
I been experimenting with the Maxima 250's, and will also with the new Mojostik that I just purchased. I have been shooting 30" 250's with 260 grains up front with standard insert. Have been wondering if the brass inserts would work or not.
What is the poundage of your bow flatlander37? I am going to be shooting these out of two bows; 51# and 55# close to center cut longbows.
I had to go that stiff for my setup. I suspect the 350's may be too stiff for your setup at about 29" in length. They may still work if you don't mind shooting a longer arrow, but I can't speak from experience there. The brass inserts that fit are made by Muzzy.
I have been shooting an older Bear grizzly pulled to 52# at my 27" draw length. What I really love about the Maxima is the ease at which you can get EFOC if you want. Depending on if you're going to use brass inserts or not, and your point weight, you may want to try the 250's first. Manfromthepast, are the brass inserts from Muzzy expensive, and how hard to find are they?
I shot CE 250 Maxima out of a 53#@28 A&H ACS,they were 30" long with a 50 gr.screw 0n weight and 125 gr. point. They are an expensive arrow, but high quality and very consitent and flew just great.
Thanks JRY309, i think 250's would be the best for me. I just like the looks of the arrow itself and think it would last a long time if I didnt lose them.
Maxima 150 - 29" bop, 100 gr. brass insert, 175 gr. point.
Tune well out of 45# high-performance recurves. Total finished arrow weight about 500 gr.
Custom One-Stringer wraps.
Brass inserts are from 3Rivers, item # 0255X
