Title: Flemish string Jig plans
Post by: acchyper on February 19, 2010, 02:35:00 PM
I just built the string jig from the plans that admin posted on here. I need to know if the 48,50,52 and so on is the string length or the AMO length of the bow?? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It is the finished string length... so, if you were making a string for a 56 AMO bow, you would set for 54"... and so on.

Hope this helps  :)

Those are the string lengths. After you make a couple, it will all make sense. Then you will start adjusting them the way you like. I'm on my 5th string now.

It's at the bottom of the "How To". Here's the link.

So if I am making a string for a 68 amo long bow. I would use the 66 mark on the jig. Am i thinking correctly.

The best way is to get the brace height correct on your bow, then take the string off and measure the string. The difference in string length compared to bow length is different on different makes and models of bows.

With all that being said, if you don't have a string for your long bow to check, I would start at 2" shorter.
