Is any one out there attached to their bows? My Widow was my first and only custom bow. I've been hunting with it since '96. I'm still not over bow'd with it, but I feel that in a few years I may be, so I went out and ordered a new one. This weekend is our last "hurrah" together. It's going to a good home. I'm selling it to my hunting buddy who is converting from his compound. Oh the memories........... :(
I've got 2 that will never go anywhere long as I'm alive !
Black Feather Longbow
Timberhawk t/d Recurve
I had one TimberHawk osage one piece recurve. I priced it and regreted it since. Its one that I still miss...
Yup, I'm attached to one of my recurves. I have and will continue to buy and sell a few higher end bows, but I will not part with my Quinn Stallion. I'm starting to feel the same way about my Black Widow.
I use to say that I had one wife and a hundred bows. Meaning of course that I was true to the wife but not to any particular bow. I have shot several Hummingbirds that shot well, along with a number of other bows. I had a Beeler bow that was very compatable and the only bow that really paid for itself in winnings. Now I'm waitting for another one very much like it. If it shoots like the first one then I may have to change my phylosophy.
yup a new to me bow that i got off a good buddy on here for two knives its a fox royal crown and hell does it shoot an arrow or what. :archer: :archer:
I'm stuck with my Bamas.
I absolutely love the way they shoot. I am particularly attached to my first one because that landed me my first deer. Rabbits too.
There is something about that bow.
I wouldn't part with my widow...then again it might be hazardous if I even thought about it. That bow was my brides gift to me on our wedding day.
Nah, I usually just hold them by the grip. :biglaugh:
Got a Rocky Miller T/D recurve and Robertson Vision Falcon that someone will inherit.
Nope. Been shooting sticks for more than 50 years Have had some I liked more than others, but killed a fair number of critters with a bunch of different bows.
Yep. I just had a buddy over tonight that wants me to build him a bow. He wasn't sure if he wanted me to build him a longbow or a recurve, so he was shooting a couple of both. He really liked a longbow I made with curly maple limbs and curly maple/paduak riser and was begging me to just sell him that one. I just couldn't part with it, but am more than willing to build him whatever he wants.
Got several I like but nothing I can't live without. There are always more bows I can buy or build to replace any I have right now.I have my first Adcock around here somewhere and it has stuck around longer than about any others but it has probably been 5 years since I shot it.I just don't get too attached to bows like I do a good hunting rifle. My old Browning "AT&T" could not be bought for any price. :D
When I die I'm having the bow I built, burned with me.. Any other bow will be sold off.
I buy, sell and trade as much as I can, but I have one that won't ever go anywhere. It was my first trad bow and has put plenty of meat in the freezer.
Oh yeah, I'm attached for sure. My two '53 Bear recurves are gifts from Grandpa. My custom Horne longbow and my Mathews wheelbow will never leave without a fight either.
Only about one hour a day.
Black Widow PSA X and a Morrison ILF recurve, i will probably never part with these 2 bows.
Damn,I am in love with everyone of my 90 bows,I wish I had as many women.
My widow sax will always be in my house. I have sold and will sell other bows but not this one or the new one I will ordor this year. I want a pch just cant make up my mind on wood and grip style. Widow

No you don't. You can get along with 90 bows. No way on the women, unless you are really easy to dominate and change. Even then you can't change fast enough to keep them all happy. I got lucky and found one I can get along with all the time, and it took a good while to do that.
Gee guys, I'm almost feeling guilty now for selling it! If this new one shoots as good as the old one, I guess that'll be it for me. I did start a small collection of vintage Bear bows, but I think I may part with them at some point.
1958 Black Hawk (Cravotta Brothers) Yellow Jacket longbow. 64", marked 38#'s @ 28. It is actually more like 41#'s @ 28.
This is a maple core D longbow with white glass on the belly and yellow glass on the back.
This was my Dad's bow for whitetails. I remember accidentally shooting an arrow into the garage door of our neighbor "Mrs. Bush", a widow, who according to local kid legend was not one to cross.
Anyway, the bow means a lot to me and I shoot it when I can.
Its a lot like a beautiful dancer- if you can keep off her toes you'll have a great time...

I don't think that living in the dog house is a good idea, so... I'll never part with the TFV Widows my wife gave me. On the other hand I like to buy, sell, trade like mentioned above. Not a true collector per-say but dig the looks of stuff out there and if it's 47-51# @ 26" ... Look Out!
... mike ...
* See Ya At The Bunny Hunt! You'll see some bows there... ;)
I don't think I'm really attached to my bow. But, if you look at her the wrong way there will be a fight!
I always think I have a bow which I will never part with, funny thing is that changes from time to time.
Im will keep them all till I die. But my faverits are my first two a Howitt bandito 28" 55@ 29 and my AMF wing 58" 60 @28 Their my to go bows some time ,lots of times they both go hunting with me.
I went to Anchorage (our big city in alaska) for my archery license test. On the way back I stopped to get a burger. There was a couple of shady looking guys hanging around outside, so I went back and locked my truck. As I walked away I realized I was more concerned about my bow than my truck !
Got myself four i wouldn't sell if i had to eat dog ???, Well i do love them. A Pronghorn longbow, Jack Kempf custom hunter, Elk antler risor longbow, O sullivan recurve selfbow,
I have two R/H recurves that I have had since I first got back into Trad bows. One a friend made and gave the bow to me and has since passed on. This bowyer made a lot of bows and donated them or gave them all away.
I shoot L/H now and this persons bows, bring really big money I will never sell it. I get it out to shoot once in a while and I think of the first day I met him and his generous offer to give me a recurve. My life changed that day.
The other is a recurve a close friend and I made. I took my first 20 deer with that recurve. I will never get rid of them.

When I travel for hunts my bows always go in the hotel or motel with me. I won't leave them in a truck.
I have a beat up Montana that's not going anywhere for awhile...
i havent found the perfect bow yet, one day il be happy. hope its soon...
I love my Turkey Creek Longbows.
I love my Morrison's... and I have a few that I won't get rid of... to many memories. I've got one that I've owned twice, on the lighter side for me... Kinda feel like it may be the bow I grow old with even though I've never taken a game animal with it as of yet...
But, I also like my Thundersticks... ;) Oh, and I've got a Kwyk Styk, and a Dryad on the way too... Maybe I'm a bit more fickle than I think...
Even though I like to play with other bows, my Morrison's are my stand-by/goto bows... Never know when you will find another bow that will be your "goto" bow...
My Kempf Stealth and my original Stewart Multi Cam T/D will never be sold or leave this shop in anyone's hands. Too many years of good service, like family.
i've got an all bocote schafer that has been incredibly lucky for me. incredible mojo.since the purchase, i've shot one bear, whitetail and a moose. haven't missed a shot at big game with her. won't mention the grouse i missed, but already had a moose in the freezer.
I have an old Ben Pearson Power Jet fiber glass long bow I can't let go of. I bought it when I was a kid in wyoming at a garage sale for $2. I have let all of my nephews and my daughter use it,but I always get it back when they out grow it. It started the archery habit for me,just two many memories.
My rosewood Howatt Hunter (56#@28") and my Chekmate Cascade takedown (62#@28") aren't going anywhere. Others in the collection might stay for a long time but could be traded if the right opportunity presents itself.
There's a Blacktail TD that is hanging on my rack that will stay with me forever. It has some very figured myrtlewood limbs. That wood was taken from a tree that grew west of where I live. Made by a fellow Oregonian. It's a keeper. Then there is the one piece Blacktail that is snakewood and lacewood. Another keeper!
Well not really, but I do use a wrist strap.
only have one bow. want it to be my last. rose oak creations.
I have an Old Pearson "Mach One" 'Curve that will go in the 6' Hole with Me!! That is Unless I can Pass it to My Grandaughter!
That Little Bow Puts Any Arrow I Put In It, Right Where I am Looking!! It was My Companion for my Very First 3D Shooting Trad., and it Performed Better than the Wheels I had been Using!! :archer:
Just one? I love them all, but my Zebra Quest will never be sold. the others, who knows, they are with me now and I have no intention of selling or trading them but then "a pretty curve" may turn my head sometime in the future.
Danny
Many come and go, but the Habu and the Hoyt GM2 will never leave.
Nope...I ain't attached to none of'em. Any bow I have is subject for sale or trade. Haven't quite found the "one"....I think the closest I came to having the "one" was an Acadian Woods Tree Stick and a Kimsha.
Mike
I am to a few. The Man who built them I consider a freind and mentor and will most likely keep them forever.
I have 2 Black Widows that will never leave me. A couple other bows I have killed critters with also have a special spot. Right now I have no one close to pass them on to. I keep hoping one of my 2 daughters marries a young fellow I can mentor and leave a few bows to. It may sound selfish but I think at least one of my BW's will be buried w/me.
Bill
I am to my first trad bow. It's an older Martin X-200 recurve that my Dad bought me when I was 12 or 13. It hangs on the rack 99% of the time but no way I'd ever part with it.
my little black RER Vortex will be with me till the end. my girlfriend had a new set of longbow limbs made for my Bob Lee short riser for Christmas so, it's a keeper too. the rest I'll just enjoy as they come and go.
:archer:
At the hip to my Rose Oak! Hap
I own quite an expensive lineup of bows, but the last one to go will be the martin super D at the bottom of my signature. I do have to say that my one piece ACS is really starting to grow on me though
