Title: Silver Arrow Archery???
Post by: limbow on February 16, 2010, 09:11:00 PM
I came across some arrows that were included in a bow deal that shoot exceptionally well. I am new to the wood arrow arena but these all have a Silver Arrow Archery label on them just below the fletching. Anyone have any idea who made these or how to contact them?

Thanks!!

I was told that they are out of business.  I have used their finishes on a few dozen wood arrows and really liked it.

They were located in New Hampshire maybe.  They used to carry some beautiful beadwork, bows and arrows, and other traditional equipment. i want to say they went out of business 5 or more years ago.  Maybe some of the other guys and girls will jump in.  i bought a Robertson peregrine from them in the early 90's.  They stocked custom bows for more than one bowyer as i recall.

Rastaman has the right timeframe although I would say they closed up a coupla years earlier.  Yes they did carry bows from several bowyers, both very well known as well as some lesser known bowyers.  You might find some posts re:Silver Arrow via a search on that "other site" since their archives predate TG's.  Good luck.

Yup...Silver Arrow used to be in N.H. and I used to stop by every now and then. Haven't seen or heard from them in a long time, so I stopped looking. Rick.

Bob Holzhowser, the owner of Silver Arrow, and his wife divorced 7 or 8 years ago and the business shut its doors at that time.

Best cedars I ever shot!
A gentleman from Fla.(I beleive) used some sort of stabilizing solution he soaked them in? All I know is they shot great.

Overbo,

You aren't kidding about them shooting GREAT--They are something special for sure, I wish I knew more about wood arrows and how they are processed. The arrows I have looked as though they may have been compressed?? Not really sure, but the 6 I have will be tipped with some old bear greenies for next bow season!

Bob was great to talk with!  I have a few cedars he made for me 10 years ago and they were very nice, high quality.

Does anyone know how he put the 'label' on his arrows?  I always liked the label and am surprised more people don't do this.

Hey Bill, remember that big Rendesvouz that Bob threw together in Washington, NH. That was one of the 1st shoots I ever went too. I had a lot of fun at it. Any idea what year that was?

Gregg: That was the first shoot Laura ever went to. She was hooked before we went but that sank the hook in deep. It took a few years and some coaxing by Michelle Eichler at the Muzzy to get her to hunt but now I can't get her out of the woods. Hope you can make it to the Muzzy next year.
