Title: got her hooked - judge her form (pics)
Post by: saumensch on February 16, 2010, 02:49:00 AM
Hi,

my girlfriend shot my recurve a few times but it was too heavy for her, so father christmas brought a Samick SHT 45# and now shes hooked.
OK, she still isnt hitting so good, form needs improvement too, but for a start, its OK and most important, we have Fun!

Our dog "pork-chop" doesnt understand why the blue target bag gets more attention than him.
"Come on, play with me stupid and stop that crap"

P.S. resizing pics and then taking the originals to post is of not much use   :knothead:

Always work on form.. Her anchor point looks to be too far from her face and not in line with her eye... A lighter weight bow would help her to practice perfect form.. Practice form and have her hit anchor and NOT shoot.  Shooting/aiming will come later...

Saumen...

As a newbie that is really, really enjoying this trad stuff. I started with a 45# Samick and found I couldn't shoot as much as I'd like to to fatigue. I was also, "short drawing" alot as well. I just got myself and my 2 boys set up with #28 - #30 bows with 1716 aluminums and shooting has become even MORE fun while we are learning. Just something to consider to keep her really hooked on shooting.

I did read somewhere that Samick mark their draw weights at 26", so a 45# bow would probably be over 50# at 28" if that's true.  A lot of bow for a newbie.

It is not correct in my experience.
I draw 26,5" to throat of grip, and my 35# shows just under 32# at that draw..
For my friends Samick Mind-50 it shows 42-43# at 28, rated 50#..

Great stuff here Axel! She looks to be drawing short. NP as her strength will increase soon enough. My dog also loves chasing arrows.
