My grandson and I was bowhunting Sunday on public land when I had an accident. We had hunted all morning and was back out there after lunch. We hunted a honeysuckle thicket where the deer were spending a lot of time feeding. We hunted until the rain started and decided to head in before the rain got too heavy. I was walking out when my foot got caught in a vine, and down I went. I don't mean I stumbled and fell. I fell like a fallen red oak. I don't bounce like I used to when I was young. I fell face down with my left arm under my chest. My first fear was that I'd broke my arm since it was pinned under me. But, it was ok. My ribs were another story. I've cracked a couple of ribs, and my back muscles are really sore. I'm finding it difficult to breath and get up and down. I hope I'm better by next Sunday. My grandson and I are planning on shooting in the NEA Bowhunters first shoot of the year.
Sorry to hear about that. I am finding out each year things I never gave a thought about doing are becoming harder and harder to do each year. They also hurt a lot more to do.
Sorry about your luck. Take it easy and don't overdo it.
I finally realized I'm not a kid anymore - It now hurts when I fall down.
YEAH - - GITTIN OLD AIN'T FOR SISSIES. I WAS CLEANIN OUT MY GUTTERS AND HAD THE LADDER KINDA COCK-EYED, IT SLIPPED AND I DID A GREAT TUCK AND ROLL INTO THE YARD. I WAS LAYIN THERE, TAKING A MENTAL INVENTORY OF ALL MY PARTS, (NUTHIN BROKE) WHEN MY SON PICKED THAT TIME TO DRIVE IN AND SEE ME LAYING THERE, WITH THE LADDER TIPPED OVER; GEEEZ, HE CHEWED ME OUT FOR DOING THAT LIKE I WOULD HAVE TO HIM WHEN HE WAS TEN......
GUESS THE TIME COMES WHEN THEY GET TO BE THE PARENT AND WE BECOME THE KIDS.....SOUROWL
Broken ribs heal slow so take it easy. Buggers even hurt when you breathe. Take about four ibuprofen before going to the shoot 8^).
Funny thing is, its not the fall that gets ya, its the sudden stop at the end. Hope ya mend fast.
When I worked on the Fire Dept we called it "Sudden Deceleration Syndrome". Take some Acetaminophen with the Ibuprofen.

Take is easy on them and heal up fast. Get better fast and keep your grandson outside with you.
I am so sorry to hear of your misfortune. I think I felt it too when I read about it. I watch AFV and when those folks take a tumble or the man gets his.. racked.. I cringe...I have memories that'll never go away of falls and whacks.
I hope you mend quickly and completely without any complications!
I was so afraid I was going to read something worse involving a sharp pokie object. I was very happy that wasn't the case.
God bless,Mudd
Sorry about your gravity storm. I slipped on ice and landed on a cordless phone in my jacket pocket and cracked a rib. It's no fun at all and I feel for you. I hope you are able to shoot in a week.
Get to a DR. and make sure the ribs are not broken. Don't mess around with them.
Hang in there. Man that was scary.
I hope your pain will subside at night so you can get some rest. I feel for you.
Good luck;
Billy
I LIKE WHAT BUTCH HAD TO SAY! BEEN THERE DONE THAT. SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR MISHAP AND HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER TO ENJOY TIME WITH GRANDSON. YOUR HEALING IS IN OUR PRAYERS

George is right, I've broken quite a few, even during bowseason, they take a long time to heal..They even cause muscle pain in other areas of your torso. Get well.
I broke a couple ribs 2 years ago at work, and it took 6 weeks to heal before they would let me go back.
I bet it was months after and they still when sore if I leaned to hard on them.
I think the worst part was when you had to sneeze or cough. You knew what was coming and couldn't stop it from happing lol.
Listen to the Dr. and take care.
I was watching the Olympics, and they said some kid in the snowboard competition was competing with cracked ribs. The ones I have had, I did good to just hobble around and breathe. Hope you heal quickly, it aint any fun.
