Y'all might remember Marty's last attempt at a 300 post thread. He failed... Again..."The only difference between closer and loser is the C"
Well I am too.. I had my chance at Uncle Gene's record this afternoon. Y'all remember the four or five hogs in one sit (depending on who you believe..Marty or the picture)
I got in the tree at 4:07. At 4:25 here came the hogs!!!!!!
I expected them to come from the other side of that stand in the top of the pic.
Instead they came from behind the camera.
:campfire:
ooooooooo michael! do i know that spot?
You should Rob!!!!! :bigsmyl:
A hunting story!! WOOHOO!!! Now on with it... :bigsmyl:
Grill size choates......Drool,Drool! Thats one way to beat cabin fever.
you go michael you GO!
Here is something you don't see everyday in SC.

:bigsmyl: :campfire:
:bigsmyl: :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl: Let's hear it Michael...
The first bunch had these 2 sows all those choates and one boar hog. One of the sows was dry..... Bad day to be her.
My stand is to the right in the video. She was standing on the other side (left in the video) of the feeder from me. It was about 26 yards.
I drew touched anchor and hit the hair I was looking at.
:clapper:
Of course everything exploded out of there. While I was watching her leave I started the stopwatch on my Luminox.
Within 2 minutes I heard rustling in the leaves!!!!! I looked up and here came two different boars. And right behind them were the first group of hogs.
:campfire: 1 down 3 or 4 to go!
One of the boars was on the smallish side. The other one looked like he was about 130ish. But, that sapsucker had tushes sticking out 1.5 to 2 inches on either side.
As soon as he hit the opening he turned and faced me so I got a good look at those canines.( Is this a recurring theme with me or what?)
My heart was pounding at this point. I drew hit my anchor and......... It's bedtime. More pics and vids tomorrow.

NNNOOOOOOO!!!! I can't be on tomorrow!!!!!
Michael I think that you have enough hogs in that pictue to hit 400 posts. The morning promises great stories I believe.
bedtime!?!? I hate bedtime!!!! :)
cant wait to hear the rest of the story!! :campfire:
Bedtime...there ain't no bedtime in story tellin'.
:campfire:

Nice shooting Michael, I never seen those chipmunk looking pigs but at one place. I heard the water is still high as well.

Michael,I'm not coming if theres snow on the ground. I'm tired of snow! :biglaugh:
Things are looking good. Lets see some more.
Mike
just for the record, the Gene killed 4 in one sit.
Michael, Michael, he's our man, if he can't do it...........I can!
:bigsmyl:

The boar had turned sideways but he was only 10 yards from the base of the tree. I didn't bend enough at the waist and I shot through the top of the meat on his shoulders . He ran just into the brush and looked around like "What was that?"
Then the wind shifted and everybody left again.
I swear it was 4 minutes and here they came again!!!!!!! Only this time there were 3 new boars. And there was a red one I really wanted.

:campfire:
:campfire: :coffee:
I really want the red one too. Looking forward to the rest.
These 3 all went behind the tree. They were about to come out when someone caught me moving into position and they all froze.
Well the red one hung way back and was not coming out any time soon. So I drew on a black one who was again 10 yards or less from the tree and again I shaved his back hair for him. :banghead: :banghead:
I have done that shaving thing. Is all of this at your lease? What a place you have.
Yes Randy this is all the lease. The good part is this is only one stand.
To finish up. They all came back AGAIN and I just shot slam over the little black boar that was with all those choates. Here are some pictures of the sow.

Anyway like I said to begin with....LOSER!!!!!
Don. Yes the water is still very high but the hogs are still in there hard. April is coming fast my friend. Woods and I are looking forward to it.
I think this is the boar with the big tushes. It's kind of hard to tell.

Looks like fun except the snow. I'm sick of snow too, even down here in Oklahoma. Good times and good shooting Michael. Congratulations!
Allan
Great stuff Michael it looks like you have that place figured out. I think I may have to come visit. :bigsmyl:
nice! I love to see the dead pigs!
Great post
Awesome Michael! I had better go and make some more arrows. Looks like I might need extras.
I was looking through the rest of the vids and found a better one of the toothy one.
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w43/silvertip70/th_MDGC0404.jpg) (http://s173.photobucket.com/albums/w43/silvertip70/?action=view¤t=MDGC0404.flv)
Just look at it as catch and release. It also cut down the work you needed to do at the end of the hunt. Now you're ready for when the tusker, or the red one, or any of the others come back. You got to let go more arrows in one hunt than I generally get to release in a whole season, and you got some pork to take home. I'ld say it was a great success.
Good stuff Doc.
Congratulations on the pig!
good stuff man. I expect we will be seeing a lot more stories from you and your hog killing adventure. I cant wait.
That's cool Michael...congrats bud!
Great story! Lots of action makes for a great hunt!!
Congratulations on some fine eating!
