Title: AD trad or trad lites
Post by: bigbowsh on February 14, 2010, 12:31:00 PM
I have a shrew CH 56" 60# at my 30" draw and have been trying to get arrrows to fly out of without much luck. Until I shot a friends AD trad lites 31.5" with 145 point, they flew perfict. My question is with more weight up front will these be stif enough or do I need  the trads.Iwould like a few  opinions before I spend the $$

For 60# at your draw length I would go with AD Trad, they will be heavier then the Trad Lites.I shoot some AD Trad Lites and with a 145 gr. point they only weigh around 485 grs.,thats alittle lightweight for a 60# bow.I shoot my Trad Lites out of my 45#-53# bows,I shoot the Trads out of my 58#-65# bows.

I think with your set up the trads would be best.

Im with Terry and Joe on this one , you will find that the Trad or Hammerhead will work well, the HH would be perfect if you looking for a 600 grain arrow with the standard components, no need to cut them either with you 30" draw.

I AM ALSO WANTING TO TRY THE TRAD LITES. I AM SHOOTING A 60" BOB LEE 51@27 MY DRAW IS 27" AND WOULD LIKE MY ARROWS TO BE AROUND 28" LONG. I WOULD PREFER TO SHOOT A 175GR BROADHEAD.I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP MY ARROWS AROUND 475 TO 500 GRNS. WILL THE TRAD LITES WORK FOR MY SETUP?

The Trads or the Hammerheads should be perfect. I have both of them plus the Lite versions of both. In the weights of the bows you plan to use them for, they will work well. I prefer the Hammerhead versions because of the extra weight forward and especially the added strength of that extra layer of carbon fiber on the front end. All versions shoot very nicely.

Wendell -- yes, the Trad Lites should be fine. Unless you really need your arrows to only be 28" you might want to leave them another inch longer. Mine are 31" long. Shorter arrows can be more finicky at times. You can't add back more material very easily, but you can always cut off more. Make sure you cut from the front end on AD shafts or you will be sorry! They are tapered shafts, you know.

For our next question...

How about for a Hill style LB thats cut a good 1/8" from center. Bows are #55-60 @ 30", so for a 30.5"+ arrow.

I have not heard of anyone shooting them out of a Hill bow, wondering how they work  and wich one

Thanks
Eric

WESTBROOK. I TOOK THE ABOVE ADVICE,AND OTHER ADVICE ON OTHER POST'S ON HERE,AND I JUST CONTACTED PAUL AT BADGER ARROW. HE IS A SPONSOR HERE. HE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND CAN ANSWER ANY QUESTION YOU MIGHT HAVE AND ADVISE YOU WHAT ARROW YOU MIGHT NEED. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH HIS PATIENCE (I ASKED ALOT OF QUESTIONS) AND SEEMED VERY KNOWLEGEABLE ABOUT THE ARROWS.

Westbrook I will let you know in a week or so. Right now I have some GT 55/75 that shoot real good, but like what everyone here has said about the AD. So I ordered some AD hammerheads. Hope to get them set up come Fri and Sat when I get back in town. Be shooting them out of my homemade Hill style LB. 59#@29". I got the ad instead of the lites, because worse case I will add more weight up front.

Here is a great place to buy your AD Arrows.  Joe is a sponser here and has a real good price on the AD shafts and inserts.  I have bought two sets from him already!

Thanks Joe!

Eric, I finally got to shoot, but due to the weather, I only took a few shots. I am shooting hammerheads at 31" and shooting 60#@29" with 250 up front.. I am not getting good flight at all. But it might be the weather too. I hope to get these shooting good.

Thanks Ryan, Its amazing how tolerant those shafts seem to be, just been wondering how they get along with them picky Hill style bows.

I'll stay tuned for updates

Well the AD's seem to fly well, they just group 20" to the right. (I am a right hand shooter). Yet I shoot some 55/75 Goldtips with 250 up front, and they stack in there at 30 yards. I am thinking the regular Ad's are too stiff? I don't know.
