I thought you guys might appreciate this. The Michigan Longbow Association's annual awards banquet was last night, and this was the cake that my wife and I made for their dessert contest (we've been watching too much 'Cake Boss' and 'Ace of Cakes' lately). It was a red velvet, coconut cake, and every part of it was edible (and delicious, if I do say so myself). All of the details were sculpted out of fondant and painted with food coloring. It was the first time we tried decorating a cake like this, but we had a good time, and we already have an idea for next year's banquet.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Take care,
Paul
that is cool!
Awesome!!! Did you win the contest?
Now that is trick. Very cool. Congrats.
Paul's cake was awesome! I took cell pics and it tasted good too! He placed in the top 3, but his was the best creation. It looked real.
How could it not win,the others must have been amazing.

:clapper: :clapper: :clapper: Truly amazing.
Woh first time I've seen something like that! Mmm.
Thanks guys.
The judging was based on TASTE only, with each judge only getting a bite for a sample. So third place was quite an honor.
There's absolutely no way I would've let anyone cut that if it had been mine. I can't say what I'd have done with it long run but I'll guarantee you that until the "awe" wore off nobody would be touching it!
How very stinking cool is this? Way!!!!!!
Thank you for sharing your cake with us.
God bless,Mudd
That's awesome! :)
My wife was one of the three judges. As Paul said the judges were given a small portion of all the cakes entered in the contest to taste.
Anyone that belongs to the MLA and didn't go missed an oustanding night with great food and even better desserts.
I tell you that was the best looking cake I have ever seen. We took several photo's. I agree with others. There was no way it should have been cut up BUT because it was I had two pieces.
Paul I sent you an e-mail.
That is awesome sir. I thought it was a quiver with arrows in it when I first saw it. Outstanding. :notworthy:

Even after reading it STILL LOOKS REAL!! That is amazing. :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
The quiver cake should have got a few style points...but it WAS delicious!
The meal was almost as good as the deserts too.

Better than all the other stuff on the table. Very awesome. I thought it was real when I first saw it.
I can't believe someone cut it. I don't think I could have done it. Aewsome job and thanks for the build along. I'd like to see pics of any cakes the judges thought were better. Great job!
Bob

Great Job Paul! I thought that it was a real quiver too>
Wow!! That is a one of the coolest things I have ever seen! I see a custom order Trad cake business in your feature.
That is amazing. I was going to ask where you got those feathers for a second there.
That's a cake?????? Wow great job. Looks like you cut it with a broadhead though......next time use some Dacron B50 wrapped around your fingers like a wire saw. Seems like no one is using it for bowstrings anymore. :biglaugh: Seriously, great job.
VERY Cool!!
Amazing
