Title: "A BIG JIM MUST SEE" (Do not look at this link unless you want to buy a new bow.)
Post by: COMBER on February 12, 2010, 07:39:00 PM
I don't know how to post pics on this site but here's a link to pics of Big Jims new and improved Thunder Child forward handled long bow.       if Big Jim wasn't already started on my new Thunder Child longbow I'd never post this link because it's sure to bury him in orders. I would also greatly appreciate it if someone could post the pics in this thread for me.
Thanks,
      Jake

The specs on mine are 56" 51@28 Macassar Ebony and Bacote riser with Bacote limb veneers. I don't think his wait time is any more than 2 or 3 months but I'm sure with this model he's sure to get backed up. You need one of these Randy.

Did i read somewhere that bigJim was making a 3-piece takedown longbow.

His bows are a work of art and you just know he loves what he is doing.

I bet the wait on his bows are going to get longer and longer.

Man I wish I wouldn't have looked!!!  I'm all paid up on my Buffalo bow so it looks like I'm gonna have to start sending checks in for one of these.  I don't think the grip would allow for his takedown system but if he can pull it off then I know what my next bow will be.  Great looking bow Comber!!

With bowyers like Big Jim, Duane Jessop (Thunderhorn) and Chad Francis (Lost Creek) I just can't stop buying bows. These three bowyers are all reasonable and true Craftsman. I can already tell you I'm gonna end up with 3 of Big Jims bows (Thunder Child, Buffalo Bow and 3pc).

Big Jim will you have some of these at the Howard Hill for people to try. Not your personal bow. My back is still recovering from pulling that 98# black widow from last June. Need something in the 50-55# range, yeah I know girlie bow, but I don't have any water buffalo running around in MS.

I have been away from the computer for a couple of days, and wouldn't you know it...there a 5 pages of comments about my new bow from Big Jim! Comer, quit getting credit for my bow   :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:   Guys in all seriousness, this is my second bow from Big Jim and it is awesome!! I have a 58" and he built this bow for me, and it is just a smooth and fast! If you are thinking of forward handle designed bow, please give Jim a call and talk with him. He has a winner with this model!  Thank you for all the wonderful comments about my bow, I just wanted to confirm with everyone that this bow is all that it is cracked up to be!

Hey its been nice getting the credit for your bow Ryan but I did post that it wasn't mine and that mine would be 56" and Macassar Ebony and Bacote. Doug I don't think I'll part with this one too soon and I definitely won't part with it till I've got another one in my hands. I'm famous for the revolving bow order with a couple select bowyers.

Post by: Kenneth on February 17, 2010, 06:51:00 PM
Davey, not sure what Jim's using for his takedown on this bow yet but from what I've heard him say is draw lengths up to 29" for the 56" bow and the 58" bow for anything over that.
Title: Re: "A BIG JIM MUST SEE" (Do not look at this link unless you want to buy a new bow.)
Post by: BigJim on February 17, 2010, 07:56:00 PM
Kenneth, thats about right. I have shot my 56" many times and it feels  smooth to me at my 29-29.5" draw. At 30" you should probably go to the 58". The force draw curve doesn't show poundage ramping until around 30" and even there it is only by an extra .5# more than the average of the previous per inch increases.
Yes my two piece will be a carbon socket style.

thanks,bigjim

Guys- for those who have asked (I guess for those who didn't ask too) the curent wait time is an aproximate 16+- weeks. I do my best to build my bows as quick as possible without rushing them. I may have gotten carried away with my wood working toys trying to achieve a more efficient process but I will not intentionally rush them in order to meet demand. In other words as long as I can build a quality bow, I will make them as fast as I can.

Thanks for all ya'lls kind words, BigJim
