When I first started hunting with a bow I decided it would be a good idea to have a back-up. Well thirty-six years later, I now have five bows that I shoot regularly and one old Bear wall hanger. I probably would be a better shot if I used only one bow, but I can't help it. I love different wood combinations, both longbows as well as recurves and think highly of many makers. I'm really writing I guess because I'm considering buying yet another. Is there something wrong with me? Are there any other TG members out there like me or do I need help? Thank God my wife loves me.
No such thing as to many bows.
Nothin wrong wit you. I have 5 custom bows on the rack and have one on the way to me and 3 on order, it is all good.
NOPE
No help needed!!!!
I've accumulated 24 recurve and long bows that I shoot -- some more than others. Also have about 9 old wooden wall hangers. Course I've been at it longer too.
Buy away if able, remember "he who dies with the most toys -- wins.
well, right now i own 3.my mahaska recurve, lewis hollow t/d longbow and a northern mist superior that's on it's way. but to answer your question if there's something wrong with you? nope nothing at all.
It's a sickness, and thankfully, I believe there's no known cure.
Damn I get around 90 right now still looking for something else, but I would like to thin the herd.
Come on March! I have 14 and it's not too many.
Eight are too many. So, now you know. H
I have my go to bow and a back-up and maybe 20 or more others...PR
Personal choice - I wanted a great longbow and recurve adn I wanted them to be shorter for manuverability...they are on order.
that's good for me...I can get extra limbs for both...flexibility.
Everyone is going to say something different and that's good.
then I want the rest of my money to free up my time so I can USE THEM!!!!!!!
Jer Bear
How many sun rises are too many 8^). How many days in the woods are too many?
The question is as I understand it is: "How many bows are too many?"
I have to admit that I don't have a clue since I've never hit that number. Maybe I could if I had the money to buy all the bows I'd like to try but that ain't likely to happen in this lifetime.
It's not much of an answer but it's all I got.
God bless,Mudd
I have 26 and a bow blank from Apex Predator ordered, I consider this one of my hobbies. I like to shoot them. I like to hunt with them. I like to let others try them. If I see something in the future that I like ,I'll get that also. I like to trade, but my stock has gotten to the point where I'm not sure if I want to get get rid of any of my favorites. Gotta go.... the classifieds await!!!
As long as you don't plan on hauling them off into the woods all at once there is no such thing.
There's another question that doesn't get asked around here...they are simply part of my wellness program.
I know the pic makes me look like a beginner next to some (my heroes) but this is the second time I've had to start from scratch...May you only have to do it once. Rick.

Too many bows is like having too much fun. Just ain't happenin'
It's not how many you have, but rather how many you don't have.....YET!
I have five recurves and five longbows. I could see having a few more. I would like to learn to part with a few, but I haven't yet!
IMHO I think 100 would be too many for me. But only because I wouldn't have enough time to shoot them all. If I were wealthy then I could spend more time shooting and would have more money to spend on them. Gary
I stopped counting. :D
I have to agree with everyone else, there's no such thing as too many.
rickshot you got some real nice lookin Wing Presentation II their, I don`t think you can own to many bows, as long as the better half says its ok,
That is an easy answer......
When your signature on trad gang wont hold them all.
I'm showing my wife this thread tonight for sure. Wish me luck. She told me two was too many.
I'm with K TJ. Depends upon whether you are asking me or my wife!
My goal is to collect at least one for every bowyer out there! Thats going to be a lot of bows!
:)
As long as my wife don't look under the bed
I'm good. I didn't buy them dear I won then. :biglaugh:
I have about 150 bows. I love them all and they tell a story. Never too many
Mate, nobody really knows how big the universe is, or how many bows is too many.
Silly question, someone's spouse must be logged on to the computer!
D.P.
I want to cry when I think of all the custom bows I had made and sold! No more perging for me!
You mean there's a limit?
I'm with TJ! If you are ordering bows and your wife finally says "Alright, Thats enough!" you know you ordered one too many!!!
If the day ever comes when you don't want any more, then you have your answer.
Just don't hold your breath until that happens.
I have a backup for all my backups, just in case!  :archer:
The quest for the perfect bow never ends, but the journey sure is fun.
307,261...that is the limit.
Over that is too many.
If I told you, you wouldn't believe me, it is that astonishing. I'll tell you this much, I have 28 bows from John Strunk alone, and I cannot turn my nose up at any finely crafted selfbow. Oh the imagination runs wild.
I've only been at this seriously for a few short years and I can already see the writing on the wall. Must have more bows..........
Just bought an A riser tonight, which means I get to shop for some limbs now!! For me it's a great way to keeping hunting in the off season.
Jon,
Yep, you have a terrible illness, and out of my great generosity I want to help, so send me your bows and then you'll never have to worry about too many. ;)
Do you recall the bumper sticker from a few yers back that addressed this issue of how many? It goes, "He who dies with the most toys wins". And remember, it's great to be a winner!
Dave Pagel; I believe has answered the question perfectly.
DD
I'm up to ten bows now... Always looking to try/buy/trade for another... Have ONE wonderful wife. One day she counted my bows and asked me how many do I need? My answer was: "How many hand bags do you have in the closet?" Point Made!
IMHO I don't think most of us are looking for that "perfect bow". We just dig different things about 'em so much we gotta have them. Hey! Spending money on bows keeps me outa the bars at night. :D
... mike ...
You have to have enough bows where your wife cant tell if you get a new one. No honey, I've had this bow for a long time. HA HA
I don't know what the number is, but I stopped counting after 20! :biglaugh:
I got 16 on hand, been trying to cut back. Sold two turn right around an bought two more. Should be in this week or next. So I will have 18 soon! LOL Still looking.....MORE!!!
When the wife say's you done with buying bows...LOL
I have 23 and a chek-mate hunter II on the way.
O.K. Jon when you get done with your Great Northerns just send them my way. See ya, Jimmy Hartzel
Shhhhhhhhh....the wife is close by, I can't say how many I have. And if I admit there are to many, well, do I even need to tell you the consequences.
I haven't counted mine but would say 20+ and enjoy shooting them all.
Did everybody see L. E. Carroll's thread?
Pow Wow Topic: I will Loan a Bow for the season
http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=077257;p=1
Per Gene,
I realize there are a lot of people who have and are facing very serious times. A lot have had to sacrafice even their beloved bows just to put food on the Table.
I have a couple very nice "Custom 60# T/D recurves [ Steve Gore and Doug Knight ] and one RF/DF 64" 55# brand new Custom Long Bow, that I would loan out for the season to help a couple of you out. I just ask that you take good care of them as they are all in great shape, use a stringer and return them when your season is over.
PM me if I can help.
Gene
Hey, I am sorry if this highjacks the thread but maybe some of us that have a few "extra" bows might want to get involved in Gene's cause.
Matt Hamilton
God Speed to L. E. "Gene" Carroll and guys like him!
Ive got 12 Custom bows and 10 selfbows that I and my late fatherinlaw built. I like to shoot , buy, sell, and trade bows and sometimes donate them. I try to sell one when I buy one now.
Well, in Missouri you can get as many as you want. Just keep buying those $7.00 tags. Wait a minute! You mean Bows and not Does? Same answer, it just costs more.
