Hey guys i just thought this would be kinda a fun thread. I havnt seen a lot of movies involving Trad bows but was just wanting to see what you guys would come up with.. I'll name a few to start off with.
1.Deliverance
2. Jeremiah Johnson(not a whole lot of trad bows but great movie)
3. Robin hood.
How about The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy.
troy,king arthur,avatar
Lord of the Rings and Deliverance.
Guys didn't the second Rambo have him shooten a recurve
I was thinking King Arthur, Lord o the rings, Bravehart maybe even 300 with the arrows blocking out the sun.
The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn, you don't get better than that, especially with Howard Hill making the shots.
dances with wolfs.
Last of the Dogmen, Apocalypto, The Last of the Mohicans, Little Big Man, The 13th Warrior
Deliverence
Henry V
Robin Hood
Lord of the Rings
Tembo
The Weather Man
The Professionals
DELIVERANCE!
Everything else pales by comparision.
Squeal like a pig!... :scared:
WOW...good list going. I loved Woody Strode with that longbow in Professionals.
Another one not mentioned is "Hard Target" with Claude Van Damm. A co-star was Wilford Brimley playing a crusty old man who eats oatmeal to combat his diabetes. He also uses a recurve (Martin Hunter, I think) and a back quiver full of arrows to help dispatch the pukes. Good action and plenty of trad bow shots.
I just picked up Deliverance of e Bay for a couple bucks. Hope its good.
There is also a NEW Robin Hood movie coming out soon starring Russel Crowe. But I think these newer movies have too many special fx,not real shootin' like Hill did in the original.
My personal pick is the original Robinhood and Deliverance with Burt Reynolds
I thought Rambo was shooting a wheelie bow. Might be wrong as it's been awhile.....
The last Samuri.

Thats right, that was a good one! I'll have to check out the professionals.
In addition to some of the other good ones mentioned, how about the Kenneth Branagh version of Henry V? Great flick, outstanding acting, the best fiction writing available (Shakespeare, for pete's sake) and the longbow saves the day.
That's some good stuff.
I liked the '52 Robin Hood with Richard Todd. That's the one that got me started.
Errol Flynn's Robin Hood... Lord of the Rings trilogy ... don't get any better !!!
Errol Flynn's Robin Hood... Lord of the Rings trilogy ... don't get any better !!!
Branagh's version of Henry V ... STUNNING ! Ain't no reflex / deflex in that film !!!
The Book of Eli
MY favorite fRom the 60"s the Black Rose, staring tyrone power!!!!!! telling my age ) :goldtooth:
The Great Dance
Princess Diaries. :biglaugh: Seriously, she shoots a Martin recurve, albeit she needs a few lessons.
How can you beat Disney's Robin Hood? It really shows it is the shooter not the bow, Robin Hood (the Stork) uses a stick still bearing leaves and arrows that are tied together. I don't think anybody could beat that shooting :biglaugh:
Black Robe
I'll stick with the Classics...
Errol Flynn's Robin Hood and Deliverance.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the "Wrong Turn" movies.
A lovely story about a couple of college kids lost in the hills of Appalacia who are chased by a crew of cannibals.
Selfbows and cannibalism...both pretty traditional, right?

I cant believe i didnt think of that one lol :biglaugh:
"Predator" Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a cool bow that looks to shoot about 10 FPS. :help:
Lonesome Dove
Shogun
The BBC made a Robin Hood Series a few years back with a lot of Archery in each episode. The story line gets kind of corny but the archery is good.
