Title: Acadian Woods Riser Re-Do
Post by: Toxophilite on February 10, 2010, 07:56:00 PM
Awhile back I picked up a really fine Acadian Woods 3 PC recurve bow which had changed hands a couple times and was priced right. The bow was in near-perfect condition but had a very custom grip.  Nothing surprising about that. Tim Mullins is truly a "custom bowyer" and makes his risers fit the individual who's buying the bow.

Tim and I are friends.  About a month ago I was talking to him about a hunting trip and mentioned the bow.  When I said something about the grip not fitting my hand very well, he said, "Bring it over to the shop and let me take a look."

Long story short, Tim offered to redo the grip to fit my hand.  I decided to go for it.  It took him about fifteen minutes (with his equipment and skills) to completely custom fit it!  I left the bow with him so he could refinish the riser with some other custom work he was about to finish.
The results are at the bottom of my comments

The reason I'm posting this is to let folks know that Tim Mullins is willing to do the same for anyone who has Acadian Woods bows, especially the 3 Pc takedowns.  For a reasonable price.  Original owner or not!  Tim said to just call or P.M. him and he'll try to work out something to make this happen for you, too.

Boy that's a pretty bow!  Now you got a looker and a shooter.  Tim sounds like a fine fellow, I wish we had more like him around.  One of these days I'm gonna get my hands on one of his bows ... should've ordered one years ago.

Got an email from Tim Mullins today saying his computer is back up and he has limited use of email now.  So if you need to reach him you have another choice now.

Wish a certain bowyer in Alabama could hang around Tim some, maybe some of the good would wear off on him. I am out in full for a bow I will probably never get seems like !!. Great looking Acadian, gonna own one one day !

you are correct I just picked up a used 3 piece tree stick from a friend in CT. The wieght was a bit high for me. Tim took the bow down from 62lbs at 27.5 to 53lbs at 26.75 draw for me in just a matter of two weeks and only charged me $100 bucks. ALSO he didnt have to but he refinished the entire bow riser for me and put my name on it for no extra charge.
THATS first rate!!!!!!!!! I drove and picked it up last saturday (I live in baton Rouge) so its not that far, bout 60 miles.
I will have to post some pics because its like brand psankin new!!!!
I plan to get him to make me a 3 piece recurve as soon as I can come up with the deposit money  :)

Fine man to deal with and fun to talk to!!! My wife dropped off the bow for me and she said they made her feel right at home..
