Hello, I am Luka from Slovenia and I am new here in the forum. I have question about clothing style.
What are pros and cons of pullover type shirt (half zipper) vs jacket style ( full zipperd) shirt. I have plans to buy woolen shirt for bushhiking and wildlife observation ( bowhunting is forbiden in our country).
Regards!
I prefer a jacket, easier to take on and off in changing conditions. Pullovers are probaly a little warmer. My grandfather was from Slovenia. Hope you get to experience bowhunting some day.
I Luka, the jacket is by far better, more handy and fast to chance clothings. There are plenty of Countries next to you where you can bowhunt for cheap.I have friends that are used to rifle hunt your Country.
I agree with the jacket recommendation. Much easier to get on and off. I do like light pullovers as my under-layers, though.
Both have there place, you have to decide if you need quick on and off and better venting or if a pullover is what your looking for....or buy both and just watch the weather....lol.
I really sweat a lot. I had a Cabela's pullover last season with the windstopper lining in it and I found it to be too hot for me if I did much walking...even slow walking. I need to have the ability to open up my outerlayer to keep from overheating so I would go with the jacket style that I can open and zip up.
One thing i have noticed about pull overs is if they dont fit tight, the chest area and arm pit area get in the way of the bow string. Now if you ware a day pack with sholder straps this not an issue, the straps keep everything out of the way.
Most pullovers have a large pouch on the front to store lots of gear and also serves as a great handwarmer. I throw in a large chemical warmer and simply hold onto it inside the large pouch. We stand hunt only Bill so heat is not a problem. We usually put our pullover on our stand and carry to the tree. Once we are up the tree and settled for a few minutes we then put on the pullover to make certain we have not built up any sweat. My next purchase will be a Gray Wolf Woolens pullover. I love the fact that Jeff makes the collar taller in the back so it will protect your neck. JMHO
