I dont know what the deal is, I noticed it before in december when we got nailed then, but for some reason the bunnies around here are not coming out. There are no tracks! Do you guys think they are under the snow? Or do you think they are just not coming out at all!? Fortunatly we are loosing snow fast, on Saturday the snow was up to my thys, and now it doesnt even get to my knees! But more is on the way! Anyone else having this delema
I'm not a rabbit expert by any means, but I have found that when the snow is fresh and deep, they tend to stay underground. I THINK they wait until it is compacted a bit so they can skip over the top, rather than "spin thier wheels" through the fluffy stuff. But thats just my observation, nothing scientific about it...
I'll second what Roger Norris said, from what I've seen, at least here in Michigan, when the snow is deep and fluffy they stay underground. But when the snow is "packing" snow, they tend to stay on the top of the snow. This is what I have noticed here in Michigan anyways.

I've not seen many rabbits here in Carroll Co. this year at all. I have seen a lot of foxes and hawks so that may be our problem.
