I found out that my 2016'a are the perfect size to foot my MFX 500's and cut a few and glued them on. What length do you guys normally use for footings? I cut mine to 1 1/2" which adds 16gr. to the front and they paper tune perfect.
thanks,
Ken
You probably have the length that you need for your arrow but it wouldn't hurt to try a longer one with more weight and see it if still flys good. I would personally find the upper limit before I settled. It is fun learning process.
For me I just used 1" to foot my Axis/MFX shafts.I just wanted to cover the front part of the insert and make 5/16" points fit more flush.
I have settled on an inch.I think it mainly strengthens things regarding frontal impacts and an inch is enough for that. When I want front end weight,I use a combination of brass insert, steel adaptors and glue on broadheads to get where I need to go.I can even fine tune a few grains by adding a few #6 lead shot between adaptor and head, when I need to.
thanks guys! it sounds like I'm about right where I need to be.
I think so.
