Title: News Flash - SBD Strings
Post by: LA Trapper on February 07, 2010, 03:52:00 PM
Just talked to Pierre, they have been hit by a major north eastern storm and are under 18" of snow. Most of that area in PA is affected.  Trees are down and power is out everwhere.  He has been cutting trees for the last couple of days just to get out to the road (as he lives in the woods) and predictions are that he will not have power for at least another week.

He asked me to put this on Trad Gang for all who have orders in with him and all that will place orders with him to be patient.

What a guy, he is facing a serious family situation and he is concerned about his customers.  He has no way to reach out and is truly concerned.  You can hear the positive attitude in his voice.

Good luck Pierre.

Billy

I sent him an e-mail yesterday for 2 new strings. One for me and one for Vince at Mohawk. I was wondering why he didn't get back to me. Good Luck Pierre! Take care of  your situation and family matters first.  I hope  everything works out for you and your family!

Pierre is a great guy with tons of customer service drive. He makes a hell of a string. Be patient. His strings are worth the wait. I just put his SBD on my Assenheimer. Wow, I swear it is faster!!! Not a little but a lot.

God Speed to him and his family.

Hey this is why I have two backup gen sets. One that is 120 volt yamaha INVERTER type so we can run electronics and smaller loads and a 120/240 volt for everything else.

I wired my panel for eaze of using either and or. I have 15 jerry cans (5 gals) two 45 gallon drums of fuel and 11 - 45 gallon drums of oil for the furnace...we'll be ok

So I have a 10 gauge wire going outside for the 120/240 that plugs into the generator and hooks into the emergency panel. This lets us have hotwater...freezer..fridge...some lights and plugs and the furnace.

Have to clean up the water lines now that I have the wiring done...so don't go crazy on me ok.

Emergency Panel:

Note the plugs are fed from the emergency panel. If the power goes off I just plud in the generator to the black cord outside flip the breaker in the panel and voila I have the critical things working.

If however I only need a few things then I start up the 120 gen and then unplug what I want to run and it runs....then when the power comes back on I just plug it back in the plug...SIMPLE

Then with the yellow cord you can pull out which ever ones out of the plugs and plug them into the cord end. This runs off of my 120 gen set.

This way I can plug in whatever I think is the most important and save fuel.

Very versatile and in expensive.

Water lines that close to electric panel =    :scared:   Not going crazy on you but glad you are thinking of cleaning up those water lines ...Make sure you drain all the pressure  off and still be careful cutting those lines that close to the panel box...I would have all the power kicked off and meter pulled in case of some pressure spraying onto the main breaker...Be careful!

Keefer relax bud - I am a plumber too. Just didn't have all the stuff when I did the electrical and I was away shortly afterwards.

I will get her cleaned up on the weekend...when it's 35 below and the power goes out..POWER is of more importance than the water.

Pierre is a top quality person. I am sending prayers that he and his family get through this without too much disruption and stress. Be patient everyone about getting SBD strings -- they are worth the wait.

Finally got the power back on last night since last Friday. It got down to 7 degrees Sunday night and it was brutal.

There many families and ederly persons in our area still without power and I am praying for them right now.  We are doing what we can to help them. Our service might go out again because of downed trees with another strom approaching today.

We appreciate everyone's kind words and prayers and we will keep praying for those who still do not have power.  We promise to get back with everyone who has sent e-mails and PMs.

Please just be patient till we get through this short inconvience in life.  It certainly makes you appreciate the little things more and you tend to reflect on who really is in charge.

The beginning of the storm....Jean-Pierre on his way back from the barn.

Sounds good Pierre, I am glad you can see the "light".  I am sending you an order snail mail.  Maybe it will get there before the big thaw.  I hope the winter gets better for you.

Praying is ok I guess....BUT bettter to BE PREPARED PERIOD.

Get some reserves (food water) and get some back up power source and some fuel to keep it going.

We always have 45-60 days worth of food - water and supplies on hand..YOU HAVE TO or you will be cold, hungry and praying (not that praying isn't ok) but it doesn't fill the belly...or keep you warm.

Sorry, but there is no need for it. We spend so much money on gear.....well what about just being prepared for the worst so you can pray for the best.
