Not quite sure how to start this one out. I've been a recurve guy since I made the switch back to traditional 16+ years ago. I've always longed to shoot a longbow. Think about it, archery, history, longbow. They go together. Never could shoot one very well.
Enter the modern longbow. I broke the ice with a used ACS CX a few years back. One word, remarkable :)
After playing around with a few ACS's, Griffins, Shrews, Centaurs, Treadways and others, I've grown to love the longbow. I hate to sound cliche, but I've stumbled on the best bow I've ever shot. It's an unconsious extention of me with the arrow reaching it's destination without thought. It's a Centaur, 60", 53@30, Cocobolo with Yew limbs. A "Magic Bow". I've probably bought and sold 100 bows in the last 16 years and if I had to go to one bow I can finally say "I found it". I know it sounds silly but it's true. I just love to shoot.

I'd say you shoot it well!!! Those Centaurs, and your wood choice in particular, are beautiful works of art.
I'm still in search of my "holy grail".
that is a fine looking bow and a nice group..
6 months, 3 weeks and 2days until bow season.
Joe
Uh-oh! Watch out for Larry! :scared:
Glad you two found each other.

Killdeer, who has the "magic bow" now, you or Larry? The banter between the two of you is beyond entertaining :)
I want a Centaur in a bad way and your not helping matters at all :biglaugh:
Beautiful bow and nice shooting!!
Tracy
I sent it and own koa bow to Jim so that he could match its grip to my bow. Then it will go back to Larry the Curmudgeon, where it belongs.
There are bunnies to be killed!

Ok, how much are you selling this one for? I'm real interested....
congrats it can be a tuff road to find the go to bow it is such a personal thing for me it is a 64"60 bezaleel longbow took 20years for me to find mine, and it was brought home this last month when my "bez" was being refinished and I got a used shrew that I really like to shoot its just not the ONE but it fits into my herd pretty well so I guess it is a keeper just not the stallion
Yep the Centaurs are shooters for sure I have had a few used Centaurs I picked up over the last 2 years all have been great bows. My first brand new Centaur is shipping next week I said I would never order a bow that I had to wait a year for but I am glad I did.
I hear ya Michael. I'm a recurve man and a buddy bought a Centaur with almost exact same specs as your last year. It's an incredible bow. I know have my first longbow ever on order.
Enjoy that bow they are amazing.
T.J.
The real test will be in June. If you see me with a big "Blackie" from Bear Quest IV with a Centaur lying on it you'll know I haven't strayed.
Michael,
Great bow and great shooting. I'm glad you found that baby. Don't sell it!

Predator's are my magic bow... Just picked up my first Acs Cx. We will see if it is magical also.
On second thought I would probably have to say my martin super diablo is probably the most magical of all my bows. Its the only bow I own that I could totally setup from scratch with new string/serving and everything and still know exactly where it is going to hit on the first shot. Its definately my backup bow for all situations.
Mike, glad you found the one...mine should be done a month or two before archery season. You bringing that bow to the Bunny Stomp?
Hey Mike,
I think that is the same bow I came soooo close to buying a fews weeks back from a dealer in PA. Was that the bow shown on Jim's webpage????
Nice.....
Tim
 Good looking bow and great group
Awesome - you seem to group pretty good with it.

I have been thru more bows than I can count and found mine this past October. It also happens to be a Centaur, 58" 46@28. I can shoot any other bow or not shoot at all and pick it up and hit. Just something about it, fits my hand, smooth draw, quiet on the shot, forgiving, everything a bow should be. If I could only keep one, it's the "One".
I'm pumped to see this thread because I just traded for a carbon elite. :goldtooth: I've been after one of those for well over a year and I finally got one! For me, the centaur was one of the bows that I didn't realize how well it shot for me until I traded it away. Needless to say, I have high hopes for my own version of "the one".
I had one, but I sold it to Larry. Probably should have given it more of a chance. I wonder what he did with it?
I need a Magic bow how much is that option!
QuoteI had one, but I sold it to Larry... I wonder what he did with it?
Don't ask, don't tell.
Killdeer :biglaugh:
I got my "magic" bow a couple of months back. I absolutley love it. Jim does awesome work.
Yeah Killdeer. I think he sold it, but I never knew to who. Maybe someone remembers? Anyway, wish I had given it more of a chance.
did I hear someone say they are looking to sell a Centaur?? :biglaugh:
Man Larry, you can smell a Centaur thread from a mile away. :bigsmyl:
Oh boy, here we go again.
Killdeer
Drew, yes. Tim yes :goldtooth:
