What if you were either on a hunt, or a 3D shoot, etc where compound shooters were, and the talk came up on how shooting Traditional wasn't as effective, etc,etc in taking game as the wheel's. How would you handle it ?. On more than one occasion I have had to defend my choice in it.... and I believe more than a couple of them actually got it, especially when I let them take some shots, and explained it was more than just shooting a stick and string, much deeper..... just wondering how some of you may have handled the same situation.... With that said, more have been kind of curious than negative.Nowadays I dont do many shoots, and when I do I always go to the Trad shoots. love seeing the different bows and the courses are sure set up much better.

Personally I would have taken my boot off and knocked the sight off the compound and said now how effective are your wheels. :goldtooth:
Just be posative. I like to ask them why they choose to use a compound and they usually say that they wand the challange. Since thats why I shoot Trad we have a common ground.
Good Idea lpcjon2. Have you ever told them that when you were five you took your training wheels off you bike and bow.
Ignore them. I used to hear snickers from people at an informal rifle shooting match when I showed up with a stock-plain Mosin Nagant 91/30---until I outshot their pricey toys.
It's the same with bows. It's not the bow, it's the shooter. If those guys have to attack what others do, it's because they're insecure in their own abilities as archers. Ignore them. It's not worth getting into a kerfuffle with them.
I just say I've been shooting them for 30 plus years ; it's what I like and my equipment has never let me down. Then drop it. People will always think what they want to think. If you react to negative comments , you are only adding fuel to their fire. It's much more effective to ignore anyone trying to create a confrontation.
P.S. on most occasions I have found compound shooters to be somewhat interested in my equipment and not judgmental at all. Maybe I've just been lucky.

Have them look at all the Pope and Young World Records that were taken with this inferior Trad. equip!! Many are still standing World Records I might add!!
I agree with asking them to remove the sights and give up the Trigger Release aids and you will hear them SCREAM!!or give up the Bow!

LOL HILARIOUS!! I'd love to see that! :biglaugh:
Ditto mrpenquin!! :biglaugh: That would be a hoot..............
Ask them if their compound is as effective as a rifle and why would they choose a compound over a rifle?
I would just explain to them I hunt for alot more then just a kill I love a challenge and its just to easy to shoot them with a compound I love the outdoors and I have shot my fair share of deer that I dont need to be able to shoot out to 50 yards I can wait for the 15 yarder!
Being as I don't play well with others and could care less if they liked me or my tackle, I would advise them to pluck Yew...
Don't see that this thread is all that constructive. It is open to too much compound bashing and that's against our rules.

Lockin it down.
