Does anyone know where you can buy the chopper to make these feathers?

Pack,

I don't know if anyone is currently selling a low profile banana chopper but a few of us have modified the "Little Chopper" Banana chopper to do the job.  Check out this link - easy to do.  I make 4 to 4 1/2" fletches at 1/2" high.

The Vario Clipper was the best chopper on the market, but the company quit making them. I am glad to have a couple of them.

But we are fortunate that Herb's Archery has essentially copied the Vario with some slight modifications that Herb says improve the original design. These choppers will last virtually forever and do a wonderful job of easily cutting feathers that are absolutely consistent. And you can quickly change to a different feather profile if you choose to. There is no other chopper I would buy.

The cutter blades come in either right or left wing, but since the banana cut feathers are symetrical, the same blade works for both left and right wing. Herb has lots of information, instructions and pictures on his website. And he is a good guy too. Check it out here:  http://herbsarchery.com/herbsfeathercutter.html

I have to agree with Allan.  Herb makes a great chopper.  It will last a life time plus some.

I talked to Herb last weekend and he will make a blade for the vario/herbs feather cutter in any shape and size you want.
I have a 4" banana on the way from him.

last spring I saw and tried his cutter when I was in New Brunswick. It is every bit as good as the vario.

I am glad to hear Herb is making cutters for the Vario. I really like mine and sold all my "Little Choppers". The vario really shines when doing spliced feathers.
But if price is a matter the "little chopper" folks will make just about any shape you want. They made me a 3in bannana for my wifes arrows, some years back.
