Does anyone know where I can find inserts that will fit these arrows? The only ones I can find are for carbons...
If not, how are you guys weighting your AL arrows???
Jay, last year I designed some for 340, 400 and 500 deflection aluminums and 3 rivers carries them. I believe the 2016/500 series will tightly fit in your 2018's. I'm not 100% on that so call 3 rivers and double check.
You can also p.m. Dean he will know as well as he is a buyer for 3 rivers.

Thanks! I just sent him an e-mail. His profile says he hasn't been here in a while so if anyone else has any idea let me know! Thanks again!
I got the 2016 brass inserts and they are too tight for the 2018's.I did adapt them though with not much trouble.I first screwed a field point into the brass adaptor and chucked the field point in a small drill press. You could also use a drill.I turned on the drill press and used a small mill file to reduce the diameter of the insert. You need to go easy and check it often.I kept a short section of shaft handy to test for fit,one left over when I cut my shafts to length.Stop the drill press check the fit,hit with the file where needed.
It took a few minutes per insert and I can't remember the exact finished weight but app.95 grs and they were all only tenths of grs apart in weight. It was well worth doing.I like the brass inserts.
Awesome! If I can't find something exact that sounds like the ticket!
I had actually called 3 Rivers asked the same thing. The guy I talked to actually checked the inserts against a shaft, while he had me on the phone. He was the one who gave me the field point/ drill idea and it worked well.
They will be too tight but you can fit them by mounting them on a point in a drill and spin and file them to fit.I did this on some brass insert for CE Heritage 90,they are slightly smaller then the standard 5/16" brass inserts. It would take much to make them fit.
when using the brass inserts do you guys find that your arrows break off righ behind the insert. When I go up over about 250 up front on my 2020s,2018s, and 2117s I seem to break alot of arrows right behind the inserts. Just wondering if you all had this happen too. It just seemed like anytime I shot something that wasn't square or mayme something that was a little hard they would break.
I don't know that front loading heavy wall aluminums is all that helpful. Carbons are so stiff they can take a lot of front load. A 2018 is a pretty ample arrow with a 150 out front.
I use the brass inserts in my 2016's and haven't broken any yet. I did bend one but it never broke. I use them for stumpin', and hunting. The one I bent was shot at a squirrel and grazed a limb sending it sideways into the tree.
I have to admit I haven't beat mine up.They have only been shot at targets,so I haven't bent or broke any. They have to be stronger than aluminum, though I doubt they will help with the problem of breaking behind the insert.
Haven't seen the brassies yet, is there
a radius ground at the rear edge?

Ditto, I was thinking the same thing.
Ashby also reported the same thing with his FOC tests. The aluminum shafts just didn't fly that well with high FOC's.
This is some great info! From what is sounds like I suspect the brass inserts might need a longer chamfer on the back end. That is interesting about the AL's and FOC. I guess I need to read up on that...
