Title: Need a little help picking an arrow
Post by: Caleb the bow breaker on February 01, 2010, 05:32:00 PM
Okay all

Set up
Checkmate Hunter II
62"
fast flight string
55 lbs at 30 inch
Current arrow length = 31"
would really like to keep my FOC up

Looking for some input/experience choosing a carbon shaft.  Have been shoot AD trads but looking to find something that is a little bit more affordable other than that it is pretty wide open.

Any suggestions???

Caleb

55/75 GT blems. I shoot #56 @ 30" not quite cut to center. Works for me.

Yep! Beman MFX 400 (Leave it full length), 100gn insert, 200gn broadhead/point. Should weigh in at roughly 680gn with about 18% FOC.

I was shooting the exact same setup (bow, arrow, drawlength, the works!) a couple of years ago, for a short while. Worked out perfectly.

Beeman MFX classics are the best shafts I have ever shot in my life!  You put a brass insert in them and you will be doin good!

Right now I am shooting Beeman ICS bowhunter shafts, and they are strong and cheap, and great shafts . . . BUT they are light, So I am working on that.

I shoot easton epic st 500 with about a 21% foc, out of my 47# checkmate hunter II. so some epic st 400 should work and be able to achive a good FOC %.
as far as price I just went and picked up a dozen for $67.00 seems like a pretty fair price to me.
