Was wondering how good these pants are. They say that they have windshear in them. Does it stop the wind and are they warm in colder temps. They were on sale at the Hamburg Pa. store for 65.00 so I picked up a pair. Thanks for any input.
I got a pair late in December and put them to the test in the Wisconsin deer woods. I really like them -- kept me warm, very quiet, and seem to cut the wind quite well. Also did a fair amount of walking and I did not over heat at all, I was concerned about the windshear and "over heating" I am no longer concerned. I have the coat as well and like it a lot as well. Good luck Jerry.
I have a pair without the windshear. They kept me warm in the late archery season with longjohns underneath. Can't speak for the windshear.
Mine keep me warm down into the teens-twenties...colder than that and I have to layer.
Mind me asking how heavy they are in terms of thickness? Are they more like wool whipcord pants or more like heavy wool pants (Filson)?
I picked up a pair from the website without the windshear for $49.00, an awesome deal! I really like them, thinking about getting them with the windshear now that ChetterB said he didn't overheat in em'!
All in all I picked up the Pants for $49.00, the XXL Jacket with windshear for $77.00 and the vest with windshear for $49.00, not a bad deal if you ask me... o yeah, 2 hats and a neck gator for $7.00 each! They are quiet and warm as can be. I was out Coyote hunting 2 nights ago, the temperature was Zero, the winds were 20 degrees. I had on a Polar Fleece, a Cabelas wool Sweater with Windshear, the Vest with Windshear, the pants with insulated jeans on under those and wasn't the least bit cold! I was impressed!
I've been using a pair w/windshear for a few years. They are warm and keep the wind out.So far they are holding up well.

For whatever reason the Wooltimate stuff with windshear does not seem to suffer from the noise of many of the other windstopping linings Cabela's uses. I saw some recently and was very impressed with its quietness.
I have the vest. Warm and quiet but gets picked by briers pretty easy.
great stuff, been using it for 3 years and no problems, plus when you catch it on sale...even better! I think the high plains/dessert wooltimate is just like Predator camo and a lot like Natural Gear too.
I have the windshear pants and jacket in high plains. I love it! It is warm, quiet, and deer look right through me when I wear it. It is also light weight and easy to move in. The only thing that would be better is if they made them in bibs.
