I tell ya besides meeting Biggie while he was standing guard over the Brothers of the Bow booth while they were getting mobbed...
...I really liked the ECO-DIPPER at the Winter Bow Shoppe, did anyone check this out? What a great way to seal your arrows with gasket lacquer! This is an awesome, clean, simple way to seal your wood arrows, cap dip or even stain em'!
What was your favorite part of you Kalamazoo Expo???
-
Hands on seeing what people rave about on the sight and can see for yourself.
The cost of gas and the tolls took a bite from the wallet.
Could have bought more if not for that.
Tim

Getting to see my Trad brothers again. Every year
I go recharges my hope for good year with the bow
:archer:
-
it sounds kind of goofy but the most impressive thing to me was seeing how many people that enjoy the same exact things that i do... in my small circle of friends at home i am the odd one out because i choose to limit my range with the gear i choose. and here i find a whole expo center of "odd" people ......i will be back next year... plus the kohannah curve won my heart so i gave it a home.
-
I got a freind converted to trad about 8 weeks ago. Sold him a bow, cheap. Sold him some arrows, cheap. Seeing the look on his face at the candy store for the first time yesterday, PRICELESS!
-
Come on someone has got to have some pics to share.
-
I got to meet a bunch of the Southern boys, shoot new bows and meet new bowyers, heckle Bill Dunn (well, he is from Ohio), and got the new books from the Wensels and Mike Mitten. No high pressure sales, fun and smiles y'all.
-
Yeah, we chatted with the brothers and Mike a bit. Mike showed us some awesome footage thats going to be in the next Primal dreams thats coming out this summer. It is going to have some great music from Brule in it as well! Good times!
-
I checked out that eco dipper and thought it was a great system.
-
I second the eco dipper makes finishing shafts a piece of cake.
-
The new flashlight at the Wensels table was pretty cool. Bob
-
I agree with Stickytoes "the most impressive thing to me was seeing how many people that enjoy the same exact things that i do... in my small circle of friends at home i am the odd one out because i choose to limit my range with the gear i choose. and here i find a whole expo center of "odd" people" I joined the Michigan Longbow association, I thought it was a class act with how they were working with the youngsters. It also renewed my interest in getting a new bow, sent out emails last night to a couple of bowyers with more questions !
Dan
-
Dan, welcome aboard the Michigan Longbow Association. Great bunch of folks for sure. Make sure you make it to their GLLI in August, its easily one of the best shoots you'll ever go to. Even better if you come for the weekend and camp.
-
I got to say bye to Biggie on his way out and back home. Nice guy!
Talking with Barry Wensel in the dinner line was way too cool (Thank you Tracey and Dave). A lifetime of hunting experience in his words and eyes. I wanted to rub his head for luck but I think it would have gotten me in a bit of trouble, LOL!
I really enjoyed time with everyone that came my way. At times the St. Joe booth was packed and it was awesome!! I wished there was more time to spend with everyone, seems at times it was a glancing "hello" or wave. Everyone around me feels like family, it's great!
Shooting my new S.J.R carbon /bamboo longbow is very, very awesome!! Tracey's bows are outstanding, this one feels like it has a ton of mojo. I have named it "Vader". I'm going to have to save up money for more arrows cause I'm slapping them right on top of each other. This bow is crazy accurate!
A couple more highlights was spending time with my mom, seeing my niece and nephew shoot at the MLA booth for the first time and the kid at the end of the expo who I got to teach how to shoot. Hopefully the torch is passed!!
-
Bob was right on the flashlight was mighty fine
-
I bought one of the "MainBeam" flashlights from Barry. It seems to be of really high quality. I think I'm gonna' like it a lot.
Had a fantastic time talkin' to people. It was a good weekend.
-
Yup it was another great show. I always enjoy going and seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I was there Friday night and Saturday and spent more time talking with everybody than I did actually looking and shooting. Now I am looking forward to Compton where I get to see most of them again.
-
Got to see old friends and make some new ones.
Introduced a new shooter to the world I enjoy.
Shot some sweet new bows, and drooled over some old bear stuff.
No purchases were in the budget this year, dropped a hunnert just for the trip, entry fee and eats. Well worth it!
-
Who's Biggie?
-
Your real Father............
-
Not much compares to meeting Biggie. The guy drives 14 hours to support our JoeBuck doing his turkey seminar (which was my favorite thing about Kzoo). Marty did the same thing, except flew all the way from warm sunny Florida. Those are friends that are good as gold. Two of the finest.
I also enjoyed meeting and remeeting a lot of guys here. It is great to put faces with names. I just wish I was better at remebering all those names :knothead:
It was great to see so many people out and about about and enjoying
-
I liked Monty Browning talk on bowhunting. I picked up my Wensel books to add to my bowhunting library. I shoot some Great Northern bows and I was impressed with them. Had a great time again!!! :)
-
A complete whirlwind of a weekend with freinds old and new, talking, laughing, hugging - just about as much bowhunting fun as can be had without a broadhead on the end of your arrow. It just goes so fast, and so many people to talk to - wish I could spend more time with them all.
Sure was nice not to have a snowstorm to deal with this year too!
-
I hear ya Joe, we got there at 9:00am next thing you know we were at your booth trying for figure out what time it was and what time the show ended for the day! The day just flew by especially forgetting about the time change!!!!! :knothead: :biglaugh:

I had a somewhat funny encounter. Rob Gillow of Outdoor Success gave me a handfull of scents for this next season. Well me being me, took the cap off one of the scents which subsequently got on my hands.
I smelled like sweet doe urine till I ran into the bathroom and washed up. Gordon Bickle from the MBH booth handed me a baggy. A wee bit too early to be thinking about that smell, LOL! I still gotta get through turkey!
Rob Gillow and his wife are great! Wished there had been more time... :)
-
Biggie is one of a kind for sure. got the eco-dipper and the flashlight as well. everybody was sure nice
-
I am the new shooter Kenny mentions above. Had a great time. Learned a quite a bit. I was most impressed with the patience, courtesy, and respect the vendors and other patrons there showed to a newbie. I am hooked.
-
The few minutes I got to spend with the Wensel boys and Mike Mitten early on Friday night was cool. Each of them has inspired me in their own way. Spent a good deal of time with Angelo and Mark from Bison Gear, and had a great time talking with them. As always, I was blown away by the beautiful craftsmanship of the bows from Stillwater Archery. Very good time all around. The one thing I didn't see that I looked for was the booth that KME sharpeners were at. I made a couple of passes, but somehow missed them. Already looking forward to next year.
-
Glad to hear everyone had a great time. Can't believe I missed it ("wheels" fell off both my rides at the same time :bigsmyl:
-
Speaking of Biggie...I heard a nasty rumor that he had some sort of special sign on his back at K/zoo ???
Have I been lied to again ? :)
-
Also got to meet Biggie...now I know why he is called biggie! One very tall man!
So cool to meet and talk to so many people!
Josh
-
I too got to meet a bunch of guys, it's always humbling to me that so many of you share MY bowhunting passion!
Denny Sturgis, my GOOD friend, did put a sign on my back at breakfast Saturday morning and let me walk around with it most of the morning. The waitresses thought they were being awfully mean to me. When I finally was made aware of it, I went to the BW booth and called him out........he laughed at me.........
-
Ohhh, Sumo-off at PBS!!! The undefeated Biggie vs. the Challenger Den Sturgis!!!!
-
Denny, You did that to "My Biggie"???? Why I ought'a
My big brother Biggie is without a doubt one of the best!

The sticker said something along the lines of " I'm Gay and Happy"..or something.....Of coarse marty and i were sitting on either side of him so i guess the whole resturant was trying to figure out who was Biggie's significant other .....makes sense now why john Dill and Batman were at first reluctant to sit with us...............Perfect Denny!!!.....
-
I also brought a friend that took up trad archery in the last year and a half. He shot almost every bow in the place and had a real good time at his first expo. I enjoy talking to some of the big names in archery. They are the most down to earth people I have ever met.
-
I think you were his partner and I have a picture to prove it! Ha! I've been threatened with retrobutition if I post it- BUT I forwarded it to several people- Maybe they are braver than I!
A good time was had by all. I learned that Denny isn't the hard ass his pictures show him as! In fact- you can't wipe the smile off the guys face!! Lighten up in the hero shots Denny!!!!

Yeah I did as well, my buddy has only been shooting since the first of the year. He was/is blown away by it all, he has got it bad, real bad! He shot every bow he could just to get an idea of what he likes, well, I think he already found it, in his very short time shooting a Longbow he has ordered 2 bows already and sold his wheelie bow! LOL!
-
The Trad Expo at K-zoo is like a “fraternal” trade show. The camaraderie between vendors and customers is very special. I’ve never seen anything like it. Mike
-
Hey Biggie, I know the sticker you're talking about. Denny invited me over to his place last summer to shoot his blunt coarse with a bunch of guys. When I left there was "That sticker" on the passenger side door of my Jeep that I didn't see. I drove all the way home with it on there for all to see that I passed on the highway.... :o It's a wonder that I didn't have some fellows follow me home.
Our buddy Denny is quite the prankster, I've told him that pay backs are HE double L ... :knothead: ...... :biglaugh:

Shooting with my mom and daughter was great and a special treat. My daughter's shooting ability is really blossoming, all I could do was smile as she nearly wrecked my good hunting arrows all weekend by try to shoot the nocks off,LOL!

My friend in the second picture is the reason I laughed at Biggie. I knew she would protect me from the big man.
I love you Biggie! :) You too Ron! ;)
Rumor has it that a famous whitetailer from IA and a preacher from ARK drove big fancy pickups home with new bumperstickers. LOL :biglaugh:
-
Dang, I was unable to make it this year. Looks like I missed out on a great time!
-
Mental note: if Denny pats me on the back at Comptons, check my shirt.

I've never met Biggie or the Wensel's, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night, and ordered the "BIGGIE" frys. :smileystooges:
-
Getting to meet the the Wensels who were right next door for the weekend, and so many other great people.
Thankyou to everyone that stopped by our booth and shot our bows It was a great weekend
-
Man...I am still recovering. It just gets better every year.
First I want to thank everyone that stopped by the booth. At times I was overwhelmed but I hope I got to speak to everyone that had a question or a story to share. Really nice to put some faces with names.
Secondly I want to apologize for running out of some products. We underestimated the response from our loyal customers. Looking forward to next year and seeing you all again. We are going to launch our new website soon so stay tuned.
The crowd at K-zoo always amazes me at how cordial everyone is and what a good mood that exudes from the place. At times it is soooooo crowded and then when a seminar starts....a break for a while. I have met and talked to Gene and Barry before but this time seemed extra special. Can't explain it but it was just refreshing. Gene's new hat was awesome. Thanks again all.
-
Jake, right! Gene's visor is a bit out dated, but man, he looks great doesn't he? I didn't get to share much time with them or Mike. I just ran out of time...
Great folks, great time, great reason to go again next year!!
PS, the folks putting on the show do a fantastic job, eh?

I was there with my two boys for saturday, and it was awesome.
The Wensels, and Mike Mitten were always swamped with visitors, but we managed a few conversations. True ambassadors for our sport. I already have a copy of Mike`s book, but I picked up the new books by the Wensels. Those guys just make you feel welcome, and you know you are in good company. I assume the ladies at their booth were Gene and Barrys wives. They smiled from their hearts. It made you feel good to stop by their booth.
Eye contact with ANYONE was returned with a smile and a "tip of the hat" so to speak. That part is one of my favorites. EVERYONE is/was a good ambassador for our sport. It`s great to be surrounded by people of that quality!!!
Biggie Hoffman was always surrounded, so without interrupting, I wasn`t able to shake his hand, but as I said, with eye contact, I got a smile and a nod.
A spent as much money as I could afford in support of the vendors, and made it a point to thank them for coming.
Thank you one and all for being who you are. Because of the people you all are, I am proud to call myself a Traditional Bowhunter!!! :campfire:

Well put Bonebuster, well put!
