Recently received a new to me Firefly. Great bow! Mine is 64" and I'm wondering what brace height other 'fly owners have found to work the best. Thanks! Oh, here's mine......

youve bought one of the sweetest shooters out there...i have his low wrist version and have settled at 7 1/4".... quiet and shock free...and that is shooting fairly light arrows.
Gorgeous bow, I remember that one. :D
As you might imagine I've spent a good deal of time tinkering with brace heights and strings on the Firefly. All mine are now at 6 5/8" to 6 3/4" and they shoot fantastic that way for me, every shooter and set up is different though. Jim also shoots his bows below 7".
I'd suggest you start at 6 1/2 and just work up till its right for you and your set up.
How do you adjust the brace height? I also have a 64" Firefly and noticed the string is getting frayed and would like to know how to adjust it when the time comes to replace the string. Also, (not to get off topic) but what is a good choice for a replacement string for these bows? Thanks!
Conan,
I like TS1 Plus. I make my own.
Jacobsladder,
I brace mine as low as I can. My bow is 62" and its braced at 6"
I've had numerous folks shoot my bow and all have commented on quietness and lack of handshock.... plus they are pretty darn quick.....
I have a 58" Firefly and have the brace just a whisker over 7". Very quite and shock free. Got another one coming in a couple weeks, just love the way they shoot.
Conan, adjust your brace by twisting the string.
Jim and I both recommend the SBD bowstrings for replacements strings on the Firefly, and we have them in stock now at Braveheart for just that reason.
The SBD longbow strings are near the bottom of this page, just scroll on down:

About 7 for me, but I may try a little less now that I see others are shooting less. I have SBD strings on everything.
Nice Fly indeed!!! I have one coming the end of Feb. Traded one away, which I regret. My son has two and shoots them way too good! The one I had liked 6 3/4" BH
heres some pics of the low wrist route 66 version..love it!!

Love mine, it sports a 7,1/8" brace, mostly to cover any issue with fat fall coats.
It'll shoot just about anything over 6,3/4" though!

Thanks for the info Heydeerman and SlowBow, Heydeerman, if I'm lucky enough to get a weekend off can I catch up with you at one of the OSTA shoots this summer? Thanks again!
Mike
I tried mine at a couple different spots. I am down to about 6 3/4" right now, and it likes it better than where I was at 7- 7 1/8".
I have 3 of them and am thinking about getting another one built. They are all braced at 6 3/4 inches. the most fun we had at Kzoo was talking to Jim Jones. What a great guy!
