Hello all, I'v tryed looking around on internet and on this forum too, but as usual there is no clear explanation on why and when a choice is better than another.
Anyone can give a precise description of differences please?
Thank you
buyers need for tch.
I'm like'n boo for its smoothness.......
sorry acadian i'm still a noob, what you mean with tch?
technology?
tech!
d'oh ... sorry...
I've been told that Carbon adds 5fps so far, while actionboo is smoother.
What about Foam?
my 2 cents: I've shot bamboo recurves and longbows,carbon/foam recurvesand lonbows.it's very hard to separate 1 variable out of the whole package.the biggest difference is "feel" and that varies.is the extra $100 to $200 for foam/carbon worth 5 FPS and better "feel"? only you can decide.try to shoot as many as you can.
Best advice I can give you;
If you don't know the difference, you'll never tell the difference.
There's a little difference in the feel of different limb cores & facings, but probably 90% of people couldn't tell you the difference, if they were being honest.
I agree with kuch for 5 fps is it worth it? Last time I looked I did'nt have wheels.
I have only 27" draw, so I feel the extra speed from the carbon/foam is beneficial. I have some bamboo limbs too and they are nice as well. If your draw length is 29"+ maybe you wouldn't need the extra zip.
The carbon/foam feels very similar to the bamboo to me, just a slight performance boostt.
My opinion: If the bow/limbs were designed specifically to maximize the benefits of Foam or Carbon or the Combination of the 2 then you may see a noticable (very small in my experience)gain in performance. If you take any bow and put Foam/Carbon limbs on it I don't think you will see much difference in performance. I prefer bamboo limb core only because (my experience) it draws smoother.
Evey advantage adds up for speed: string, arrow, limb tech, good form, etc. It is just somethings you can buy, others is practice, practice. practice. So I like the bamboo...I think it smoother. But haven't tried carbon/foam.
I can only speak for the Morrison Cheyenne limbs I own/owned which have been 51,52 lb limbs at 27" draw. My favorite have been the carbon/foam I have another set on order right now twins to my favorite set. They are fast, dead quiet, and have a nice smooth draw. That said the foam/black glass limbs were the smoothest to me but not alot different than the carbon/foam or Bamboo. The Boo limbs I had first were very nice also and fast compared to other bows I have owned but when I replaced them with a like LB set of carbon/foam I gained 8-9 FPS average 550gr arrow through my Chrony and they were quieter also. Shooting around 50lbs with a shorter draw thats a big difference and at 20,25 yards it makes a difference in arrow drop. On some bow designs carbon or foam may not show any difference vs Boo and to some the extra $$$ is not worth any small gain period. I wish I liked the Boo or Foam/glass limbs better it would save me some money but I have become spoiled now.
imho, there are smooth pulling and not so smooth pulling bow limbs. the limb cores are important to a degree, but it's the bow's design, geometry and construction that at least equally matter.
all that said, i prefer the smoothness of 'boo cores and veneers for a longbow.
ymmv and you may be in for a looooong journey to finding the 'best' bow for YOU. good luck! :wavey:
