Title: Traditional or Primitive?
Post by: TooManyHobbies on January 27, 2010, 02:10:00 PM
Is there a difference? Or, is Primitive, Trad., but trad may not be primitive?
I know some use stone points, and make their own bows etc. which I think would be primitive. Yet, others, incl. myself, use aluminum or carbon arrows, which is not primitive, but still trad.

Also, if trad is primitive, then wouldn't a crossbow (sorry, I know it's taboo here) be trad, if the weapon was selfmade (not high tech, etc)? Basically, a short recurve mounted to a board (stock). Primitive crossbows were used hundreds of years ago by Romans, etc.

If I've crossed the lines with crossbows, I apologize and feel free to delete the topic.

Yeah, it is a "touchy" topic (not for that particular reason), but, you are pretty spot on about that weapon being primitive.  Hard to argue with that (especially compared to our "carbon" arrows!).

Its like dating if you go primitive you are doing it with strong sense of self worth and some tough situations.if you date traditional with flowers and candy(carbon and aluminum references)you will still have self worth but a more manageable situation.
