I have been keeping an eye on bows on **** for my cousin, after shooting on sunday he now wants a trad bow. well on there i saw one for him but in the pictures, the person put the string on the back side of the bow so it is backwards and in their discription it says "we have no idea about this we are selling it form an estate" so my question is would thise ruin a recurve bow? is it still worht bidding on if there doesnt appear to be anymore damage? cousin is unemployed so he needs something dirt cheap thats why im checking **** for him
As long as it hasn't been pulled and shot that way it may be alright, but without seeing the bow you won't know. If they don't know anything abouttrad gear it may have twisted limbs or be delaminating. Then again it may be a one in a million find. Kinda the chance you take. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but this is what you run into when people that don't know anything about what they are selling. It's not their fault, they just don't know any better.

What are you looking for in regards to poundage and what not? I may have one hanging around that would meet his needs. I will give it to you/him with the understanding that it will be passed on when he upgrades or whatever.

Thanks! he wants something from 30-50# just something to shoot until he can afford something else. I just want him to get something so he will quite asking to shoot mine ;) Im sure anything you have he will be extremely grateful

It used to be a common thing to put the string on a recurve that way for storage. "Keeps it fresh."
Folks were getting used to fiberglas, after centuries of all-wood bows that followed the string and took a set if left strung. So, not only did we unstring the bow, like our old self bows, but we strung it back'ards, too, so the set taken would be in our favor. Er, SOME of us did.
It does no harm to the bow, provided nobody tries to shoot it that way.

Haven't forgotten, just haven't been home in a few days. Playing "Mr Mom" for my g/f who was out of town.
Anyway, if memory serves correctly, I have a 35#, 40-45#, and then a 55#, all recurves. Let me know which one you think it bests suits the fella you have plans on giving it to.
