Title: Barry Wensel ; Thanks for taking me along.
Post by: weezy on January 25, 2010, 09:06:00 AM
"Once Upon A Tine" What a great book and I'm only 3/4 of the way through. WE just got back to Florida from our Africa trip. Oh CRAP I forgot to see if Gene got on the plane. I'm still wondering where that black mamba went. I wouldn't want to hunt that blind again for a while. It's not often a writer can lure me into the stories they're telling, but you have succeeded in spades.I feel like I'm right beside you every step of the way. When we were treed by that Grizzly, it reminded me of the time I was treed at dark and couldn't get down. Yep; a mama coon and 7 babies. It was terrifying. L.O.L. Also the charging mountain lion reminded me of the time walking through a big field of weeds , I came face to face with a 600 pound coyote at 6 feet. Well he looked that big at the time. You had to be there. I'm trying not to read through the book too fast, as I want to savor the adventures. I think I'll rest a couple days, I need to wash out my undies anyway.I remember meeting you and Gene in Cape Giardeau Missouri back in 1989. Great siminar.
I think I figured out what the light was you saw in Texas. I read that the government was secretly crossing fireflies and hummingbirds to try and help the hummingbirds see the map better at night  while migrating. I think they were working with GM on this project. Usually when you see 1 you see 2 lights. They were called FIREBIRDS ! GET OUT OF THE ROAD! L.O.L.
On the slim chance that I may some day get to hunt with you; I'm going to practice, practice, practice, practice. I doubt I'll ever be able to out shoot you, I just want to be able to out run you. Wait we can just take Gene! Ha! Ha! Sorry Gene, the devil made me say it.
I'm 58 years old and read a lot of books. The only other that entertained me as well was THE OLD PRO TURKEY HUNTER by Gene Nunnery.
I highly recommend both books to anyone who likes this style of writing.
Great Book ! Barry, I think I might just get buried with this one.

Weezy: You're supposed to get buried IN a new book not WITH a new book. I'm flattered. Thank you! BW

Biggie, I think they're included with flashlight shipments. Just pay separate shipping & handling.

"But wait!"

You can't miss with a Wensel book but the book Weezy mentioned by Gene Nunnery is a great one and really embodies the concept of sportsmanship.

Rusty1, go to our site brothersofthebow.com and when you get the bottom of the site index page, it says "Gene and Barrys books are now available..." just click on those words and it will take you to the order page. Or go to the books catagory and then click on the words that says to order Gene and Barry's books at the top of the page.
Thanks for your interest.  Mike

I got one of the limited editions a few weeks back and it is actually one of the best books I have read in quite a while.  I didn't want to put it down.  It is very entertaining and is highly recommended by me!

I sure wished he hadn't of lost all of that stuff in the fire.

Looking forward to the next one......
