I will do my best to keep this little story brief...but what a day. It started early with my PH waking me as soon as he awoke. He wanted to get to the hunt as soon as possible, no later than 8 am. He didn't have breakfast cooked nor coffee on. As a matter of fact, he demanded that I do the honors for both he and I (sans java for him). After doing the chores for him I began to wonder what kind of hunt I was in for. Being his first client was fair, as it was a cheap hunt, but I began to doubt the PH.
We finally got to the hunting area and began our trek. The PH following closely behind with instructions always. What bothered me was his attire. No camo and no glass hanging around his neck like those on TV. And noisy...man it sounded like he was walking on eggshells back there. He finally handed me my weapon and cut me loose.

After many blown stalks and half as many misses, I finally had another great beast where I wanted him. Broadside at 20 yards. Wind in my face. I had to make a good shot. My PH demanded I get this one or the jig would be up. He was overdue for a meeting with his mother and a huge hot chocolate she had promised. Carefully I drew and found my anchor. Like a flash the arrow was loosed hitting the exact hair I was looking at. The hit looked good and the beast was dead a short while later.

The pressure was off and the meat pole would be heavier. Perhaps the PH's mom would hook me up with hot chocolate too after my heroic feat. I had one final stalk on the last 1/4 mile back to the lodge. It ended with another miss and a scolding from my PH.

After fielddressing our animal and performing a post mortum exam, it appeared that I lunged/livered the beast.

We quickly cooled the meat in the cooler and soon made a nice gravy with potatoes to compliment the wonderful meat...then we had hot chocolate and told our tale to the lodge hostess.......
The End
Cool story, nice pictures and a lifetime of memories.

Awesome! Hopefully your PH was happy and will let you go on another trek for the grey wildbeast.
Too cool. Won't be long til the little guy is doing it on his own!
Love the story. It is good that you have such a great PH.
I would put that PH on retainer, permanently! I think your hunts would not be nearly as enjoyable without him.
Killdeer
Very nice
Um, ph, would that be preschool hunter ? Nice job ! And increase your ph's allowance !

Yep I remember those days with Jason like they were yesterday. Just wished I remembered yesterday as clearly. LOL
Now Jason is going to be a dad and I hope to be in the woods in a few years with a GPH. (grand preschool hunter)
Nice story.
Mike
Great to see!
And, he's wearing a jumper with a logo on it to remind you of how to shoot!
That's what it's all about right there dad...congrats! :clapper:
How long have you hunted with "Guided Afterschool Properties". It looks like a good concesssion, probably filled with all kinds of beasts.

Thank you everyone! So glad you enjoyed our hunt. After a long week at work it was great to spend some time with my son! Now little sister is upset she didn't get to go. We have another 3 weeks of squirrel season so she'll get her chance!
Thanks for sharing.
I remember those times fondly, then the PH grows up.
Then the scenarios are just different, but still great times.
Then as Mike said, we'll hopefully start all over with GPH's.
Good times.
Well done...!!
That was Awesome.
Very nice :archer:
