I don't want to Hi-jack McDave thread so I post my Robertson bows. This is a tribute to a great bowyer that has leaded the bowmaking world for few decads improving his design and the performances of his bow's line.
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0004-1.jpg)This is Robertson last recurve design. This bow is a Fatal Styk Z.The most appealing of his 3 riser configurations. The bow is very light in the hand ,but stable and accurate. This is the perfect elk hunting machine, perfect to use all day long up the Rocky Mountain.
This riser is Ebony and Cocobolo, heavy exotic woods to add mass in the riser. The bow is well balanced, very quiet and forgiving. Its graceful lines don't let you immagine how tough this bow is.
My friend Max Mirtle wood rise (http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0010.jpg)r and veneers, this is as light as a longbow.
So many bows and so little money....eh, time. Beautiful bow Felix.
Thanks Ric,more coming...
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0264.jpg)The killig power of 61#
Those are really nice looking bows.

58"-66#
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0004-2.jpg)the same bow during a practice session
Great looking elk, and great looking bows! (Much better photography than mine too, BTW!)
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0002-2.jpg)And on show,58"-66#-@29" 1999 Vision Pierce Points.Cocobolo and Ebony,my prefered wood combo, with those fantastic Pierce poinnts introduced by the great Jerry Pierce.I guess Dick is been the first bowyer to introduce this design on his bow line after JPierce.
Sorry the above is another Robertson:2006 Vision SR,the short riser is been in production for 3 or 4 years. This is a 56".Always Ebony and Cocobolo.
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0009-2.jpg)This is the Pierce Points
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0010-3.jpg)The other side of the moon
This is a variation of the first style on the Pierce Points, the stunning Gyrfalcon.Mine is a 2000-58"-66# @29"Cocobolo and Ebony (http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0006-4.jpg)
Very Nice Felix. Great looking Bull.
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0008.jpg)It worths to see also the other side
I find them beautyful bow but the main feature is their shootabily,I mean they are accurate and very easy to fine tuning,it is like every spine of arrow is always good and you have to bare shaft far away to understand wich spine is the best.Broadheads are never a problem here.
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0017.jpg)This is a old friend 1996,Wenge-Cocobolo.I have taken some wild boars with it.
I loved the way my Robertson fit my hand. Very smooth and accurate. My 60lb bow pulled like other 50lb bows.
Yes Mike they are great performers with a smooth draw,I get also a Vision Purist but I am more a recurve guy and I never used that bow; it is a shame but I am not able to sell my bows.
Very nice bows Felix....all lefties too....gotta love it.
Bring that Purist to Ohio next time and we will bloody it for ya. Then you can bring it back to Italy.
OK I?ll do Mike, for sure you longbow man know how to make meet with them.Billy if we ever meet it will be my pleasure to give you my bow to test drive.I get some bows but when it is time of elk hunting, well this is what I have on my hands
Nice bows !!! I concur. I love mine.
No need to ask who Cacciatore's
Favorite Bowyer is.
My first and hopefully not my last Robertson
......

Ciao Feliciano,
Very nice Robertsons, great bows to be sure. Nice Elk, mi amico.
Danny
I Danny, do you miss your Gyrfalcon.Maybe I need to build you a new bow rack because 8 bows are not enough for a man like you.
I miss mine...
But we needed cash for the family and I had other bows that worked. The Robertson caught the biggest price of them all, so I had to let her go...
Felix, great looking pic of your elk and love the Cocobolo and ebony in your bow. Bet it shoots smooth and fast. I have been very pleased with my Robertson longbows and Peregrine.
The bows are great and the Robertson family is just a pleasure to work with. I'm very excited to meet them at the upcoming PBS banquet, my first. Great pics of your robertsons and game taken.
Felix,
You are correct, Cocobola & Ebony!!
Robertson's are great bows.

Cocobola & Ebony Pierce Point
This is my OLD Faithful,1994 Vision Falcon tough as a nail,4 or 5 dry fires during those years broken strings and I cut a limb with my scythe mowing my lawn, the limb was open in 2 parts on the main core bamboo;Dick reglued it together and after 10 years it is sti (http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/SaskachewanBear.jpg)ll here hunting
Patrick, your Elk Song Pierce points is very sweet. The above bow is Bocote and Cocobolo with Yew limbs,in its early years the color was a pale honey now is became reddish and really intriguing like the old selfbows of the past. This is been a very lucky hunter and has never missed a game with most clean and fast recovering. Its hit is been a ranning fox stone killed on its tracks at more than 35Yds.
Nice bow Felix but the shelf is on the wrong side I think.
Comon Larry like Fred Bear and Glenn all the others are wrong,LOL
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/HogParkWilderness.jpg)On my way up to spike camp,my buddy killed a nice bull from it 2 days later.
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/HogParkWilderness-1.jpg)Spike camp on the WY Wilderness
Awesome looking bow Felix.
Dick is the man!!! He is one of the old-guard guys and one of the best. His bows are amazing and he hand holds each riser and "sculpts" it. A work of art when done this way.
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/SpikeCamp1997.jpg)Sorry for the double post. This is correct.
(http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/Robertsonrack.jpg)From the top:Montana Falcon-3 Visions-1 Rocky Mountain and a Robertson Purist.Bocote veneers.
Yes Randy,Dick has done a lot for the sport and Yote is on the same way.
Felix,
Nice pictures were you hunting the Colorado or Wyoming side? Great fishing up in Hog Park on the Wyoming side.
Take care, Pat
When I am draw in WY I am been in the CO side one time, but lot of hunters there. I'll be in Loveland around the 2/16
Felix, What a fantastic thread! To say the pics a great would be an understatement. I must say the Elk picture is my favorite though.
Your help when I was picking up a few Robertson's was invaluable and greatly appreciated.
Always enjoy seeing your pics and being a lefty too I have a kindred spirit!
Thank you for sharing my friend.
you have some great looking bows and love the elk picture.i love my robertson too the only bad thing is that i only have one!but im working on that.
Felix, thanks for sharing your pics! Those are all very beautiful bows.....and the shelf is on the RIGHT side!! LOL
Thanks my friends, the threads with pics are by far my prefered too.
Few more are coming tomorrow with a very nice sample of the bowyer's adaptability. As I was saying in the begining this thread is a tribute to Dick Robertson a pioneer in modern bowmaking.
Thanks Felix , you had me surfing the Robertson web site again. Thats never good.
Mike,at least you are able to get rid of your bows from time to time,I not, damn they are like sons for me.
You said it Felix. Pioneer he has been. You should maybe tell the folks about Dick and Yotes awesome hunting season this past fall.
Yes they are very tough hunters,by the way Dick loves primitive archery and Yote scores on huge animal any time he hunts.
Felix, it is rainy and cold here today. A perfect day to make bowstrings!! LOL
here a re a few of mine, a Gozhawk, Falcon and Fatal Styk. Love the Fatal Styk , Fantastic shooting bow !
(http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/hogdancer/cahokia/P1030431.jpg) (http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/hogdancer/cahokia/P1030430.jpg)
Thanks Allen,I really like the ones you sent me. Thomas,I didn't know you had also some Robertson very nice indeed. How you like them compared to your Dyes?
I have shot Robertsons longer than any other bow that I have owned and I go back and forth between my Dyes' and Robertsons , when my shooting gets off sometimes the first thing I do is go back to my Robertsons. I think the Fatal Styk I just got my be in the top spot for a while , can't believe how well it shoots !
(http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/hogdancer/africa/africa045.jpg) (http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/hogdancer/africa/africa008.jpg)
Congrats Thomas,I have seen your African games.Yes I think that the Fatal Styk is the best Robertson TD ever.In the past years I have seen a slow but always evolving design on his bows. They are always been upgraded year after years, like a Porsche Carrera always similar always better.
I have a old Peregine and a old Purist that my son got off of the Robertson's when he lived in Montana. He got to meet him and his son, who is about the same age. Nice people.
They are my favorite T/D recurve and I'm always on the look out for good used ones. Last night I was rewarded with this Vision Falcon 64", 49# @ 31" beauty.

JCJ,that beauty Cocobolo riser is the first serie of the Vision line, very smooth bows.
Here is one of my peregrine, hope you don't mind the 2 pieces T/D.
WOW Phil,I have never seen the Pierce Points on limbs, congrats.Where do you live in France?
Phil,I tell you that one piece are good looking but not practical at all when you have to ride those Jets oversea, this is the reason i buy almost TDs only.
Last year at K-zoo I shot all the bows that I could not afford. The Robertsons were the best. If I ever have $1000.00 burning a hole in my pocket, Robertson will be the bow I will Buy. I also had a chance to meet Dick and have him autogragh my "Best of Traditional Bowhunter book"
He was a very nice and down to earth man.
I wanna play too but I dont know how to post pics. I would be happy to email them to someone to post for me. I have one of the first fatal styks that Dick made and man is it ugly.

Gladly show mine off,again
Whats done to the Fatal Styk to increase its performance in comparision to the Falcon?
Rusty
don't know for sure but it does perform better and the grip feels much better on the Fatal Styk, to me anyway. I love my Falcon but the Fatal Styk is something special.
TJ,very nice woods there.Well the new Fatal styk has much less mass in the riser,it is slimmer expecially on the top part. And the limb pocket have a different angle a little bit more open.Anyway the last Vision serie since 2006,shares the same limbs of the FatalS.My impression is that the new model likes a higher brace, but it doesn't loose speed over the old one and it is more quiet too.
The top Falcon IV is bacote/ebony/bacote and bacote limb veneers short riser. Next one down is Myrtle throughout long riser. Smokin' Hot!
Rusty
I like the mirtle it makes a Robertson lighter than a longbow.Where did you get those antler knobs, are they casted?
sweet looking bows you guys.may have to try one out.whats the waiting period for one? cannot wait until sept elk in the caps felix, sadly buckster will not be joining us so we are down to three of us but thats ok.
larry
You are right Larry.Waiting must be like 6-9 months. But buddyy you are consuming yourself in the wait!!LOL
my waiting begins the last day of the previous season felix..i am a complete elkaholic.hopeless i am afraid.
i went to the robertson website....wow he makes some awesome bows for sure.
Larry,
Dick has a bunch in stock. Not sure on the build time.
Nobody can understand you more,Larry. For me life is all around September.
have any of you shot the tribal styk and what do you think of it?
Guys, a great tribute to Dick Robertson. Thank you Felix.
Shick
Thank you Shick for your appreciation. Chad:Yes everybody that tryed it found it a top level bow.For sure it is my best Robertson.

Here are a couple. Mr robertson said he thinks he made only 3 pierce point limb bows and he quit doing pierce points all together. Hope these pictures work or I will try to post again. jim
cacciatore, im up in the air dont know if i want to get another takedown or a one piece? i figured the tribal styk would be a top notch bow, i have to choose which one i want because i cant buy two!!!
As for the antler knobs, I don't exactly know. They weren't expense so I'd assume they are cast.
Frank aka 'sticshooter' is who made them.
Nice post Felix, you are guilty of corrupting me.
 Robertson's woodworking skills are amazing. I've never regreted the three I own
Rusty
Here is a couple I used to own. The all Myrtlewood bow is THE prettiest bow I've ever held in my hands - the pics don't do it justice! Dick does a great job with his Juniper limbs too. Truly beautiful bows that shoot as good as they look.
If I ever go back to shooting a recurve again, it'll be another Robertson.
Greg

Nice couple there AALLFAB. Greg, mirtle is for great shooters because of its light mass weight makes the bow a little bit more instable, but a beauty for sure. Thanks for posting. Rusty,I take a look at sticshooter,Dick was used to carry the real ones but he quit because he had some issues,I am still using mine without problems.
Felix,
Frank aka sticshooter makes some great antler knobs, as far as I know he uses real antler.
Danny
Thanks Danny,I have just eaten a Roe Deer stew with Barolo wine and a shot of Grappa.
Now you are making me hungry and thirsty,LOL.
Felix, Larry,
You guys aren't making this any easier, posting all these bows and Talking about the hunt!
By the way Felix you are going to get me in trouble, I may have to start looking for one of these Robertsons after the hunt- AFTER the hunt. First it was the Bear T/D.....
:D :p
You wouldn't happen to know of any used lefties would you Felix ;)
Love that short risered Fatal Styk. Nice stuff guys, another added to the wish list.
What is the length of the Fatal Stick riser?
I really love the small size of my Gozhawk short riser, the vision falcon short riser is too bulky for me compared to the Gozhawk.
The lenght in the riser during the 90's was 18"up to the end of the decade, then he started to make them a little shorter 17 3/4 and more mass in the window and more large in the section, around 2005 the riser is been shortened to 16 3/4 for the long riser and 14 3/4 for the Gozhawk then became SR(short riser). The new Fatal Stick is still 16 3/4 but slimmer in the window or upper portion.
Highlandwarrior, you'll have a chance of a test drive on the EagleCap Wilderness in September.
Sorry Phil I didn't read well your post, you say there are some differences between the Gozhawk and the SR? Can you post some misurement of yours?Felix
The Falcon SR is a tad longer, and larger I think, I'll check that tonight.
Also it feels bigger in the hand.
These are the dates I had mine:
1993-94-95-96-96-97-98-99-2000-06-06-09.During the dark years I am been stored by women, but now I am wiser, there are more of them than bowhunting seasons.LOL
You know I have been telling myself I do not need anymore bows. Now Felix starts this thread and I remember the Fatal Styk I had and the Falcon I killed my Bison with so now thanks to this thread I just ordered a Fatal Styk X all flat cut zebrawood for the riser and limb vaneers. Now I have three bows on order, a Quest that is due in a few months, a Talltines and now the Robertson. I am truly a sick man.
Here you go Felix, top is the Falcon SR 58" 56# @ 28" cocobolo/Juniper, bottom is the Gozhawk SR bocote 56" 60# @ 28"
This time the Gozhawk is at the top, you can see that the riser is shorter on the Gozhawk:
Gozhawk on the Top, the riser is shorter and narrower:
And the limb width, way narrower and the Gozhawk, I really prefer that :
Yes,probably you are right Phil, foe hunt those wary sanglier(wild boar)the short and lightest is the best choice. The average shot is 10yds in thick brush and thorns.Sometime you have to belly crawl on they tiny tunnels, pushing the bow ahead of you.
Danny,if your rack doesn't fit you anymore I build for free a new one to pick up when you come visiting, with a 10 full meals, wines and guiding service.
You're right Felix, the short one has killed a wild boar.
Way to go Phil,pics,LOL
Mi amico,
The meals and wine and guiding will be just fine. I always have room on the bow rack,LOL.
Sounds like the wild boar in Italy are as hard to hunt as the ones here on Guam in the thick jungle, it gets scary sometimes crawling in those tunnels especailly when you have a pig coming from the other direction,LOL. Yes, has happened to me, thankfully the pig decided to turn around instead of charge me.
This is my 1994,Montana Falcon, still with dacron string. The riser is Fanny because Dick made a patchwork on it gluing some different pieces of wood. The wood is a brasilian Rosewood a left over of who know; I asked for such rare wood in the riser and he probably found only small pieces, but it came out good anyway. The limbs are stained red elm with western rattle. Taking the pics today i have seen the skins are going to come off.Any ad to hoe to fix it? (http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0003-4.jpg)
Felix,
Not sure if those skins can be saved but I bet if you contact Bob Morrison he could tell you for sure and if they cannot be fixed I know he could put some new skins on them, he is the best at applying snakeskins. Nice bow.
Danny
Thanks Danny. For my experience wild boar don't charge you really since they don't have hounds on their back,in this case they become very nasty, quite few hunters are been killed by charging boars. They usually cut the femoral, nothing anybody can do in those circumstances.
Felix that will be awesome! This trip just keeps getting better. Now I'm gonna have to figure out where the money is going to come from after the trip and hope theres a used Lefty up!
Al focus on the hunt, the hunter is the key for success not the bow.
good call, I'm not going on this thread again!

Yves, your twins are outstanding!I love the Ebony and with that Bocote is a great combo. You told me to love the one piece and I agreed, but look at the proportions of the TD,incredible. For us poor travellers is almost mandatory to carry these kind of bows.
Thomas, you have too many bows. Send a bunch too me so I can make sure they are getting the proper workout they need!
Felix- gorgeous bows! Dick's bows are arguably the best made today. And a real trad soul at heart. Love seeing pics of those bows, thanks for sharing.
Luke Strommen
Jon,take me in your places and I make a deal.LOL
Hey Danny, Can you put me down for this bow when you go to sell it? :-)
Dick makes a great bow...no doubt about it..
Dave,
I have bought/sold/traded a bunch of bows, but any bow that I have ordered custom made for me,except for one, is still on my rack and being shot so you will be out of luck on this one,LOL.
Danny
Danny, well I will cross my fingers for the second exception then :-)
Actually, I admire the bows you buy and sell -- you have great taste. I thought maybe I could pay a retainer to you for the first right-of-refusal when you go to sell them or something...
- Dave
Very good thread. Love the pictures.

Great bows everyone! I thought I would join the party with some pics of my go to bow. Here is a Gozhawk...

Great looking bows fellas. Felix, you must have the largest Robertson arsenal in Italy. An old friend of mine has been shooting and hunting with the same Robertson longbow for twenty-five years now and I doubt he has any plans to change. Cool thread. Grant
Any more out there?
Nice looking buck and bow Creekwood!
Great thread. I have 4 Robertsons: an old Montana Falcon in like new condition, I picked for a song at a 3d shoot, one each of what ever he was calling them in 1988 and 1989 and a Vision Falcon. Every bow shoots my 670 grain cedars like a pile driver. Believe it or not the Montana Falcon shoots as hard as the newer bows at 10 lbs less draw weight. I'll try and add some pics tonight.
Oh yeah. It's hard to see it, but that is the '88 bow in my Avatar. Shedua riser and Red Elm limbs. 73# at 28". Double, tapered lams, antelope horn tips. The workmanship is eye watering and it shoots my cedar arrows like laser beams.
They were called Prairie Falcon!!
I've been test-driving this Fatal Styk since last Thursday. LH, 60", 55@28". Bolivian Rosewood & Macassar risesr with Bocote limbs.

Thanks Felix - Prarie Falcon - How could I forget?!
this is my tribal styk !

Thanks a lot guys! I'm a longbow guy but this thread has me itching to try out a Tribal Styk. :knothead:
Beautiful bows guys. My Robertson is the best shooter for me.
Thanks for starting the thread Felix.
I thought I had better jump in.
Here's my Vision Falcon IV Osage/Cocobolo with Juniper limb veneers.

I do not own or have ever even seen a Robertson but I sure would like to .They are absolutely beautiful and thanks everyone for this thread ,OUTSTANDING !PS I am the owner of Dannys one exeption, and she sure ain't leaving this stable ! LOL
Juniper veneers are really outstanding and Dick has friends that find that rare woods in his mountains.
Steve, your main problem is that you shoot from the wrong side so you can put your hungry hands on my bow arsenal.LOL
Bowwild,
It looks like you're more than test driving that gorgeous Robertson.
Once you quiver it up, it's all over. You won't be sending it back.
I've made the "mistake" of test driving 3 of Dick's bows. None went back.
Felix,If I was a Southpaw your bow stall would be in serious trouble !The only thing I can do lefty is Eat !LOL
my montana falcon....the lower riser which is cocobolo

Joe,you have a great taste when it is time to choose bows! Can you tell me something about that white feather on the Cocobolo riser?
cacciatore, the feather is a antler carving that i glued on. being that is a falcon model i thought the feather would go well with it.
this model goes back a few years. i bought it from a guy who had it as decoration in his NYC office. the bow doesn't even have a serial number on it.
Elkchaser! Shhhh!
I'm afraid "test-drives" for me are really just slang for, "Yippee"!
the Montana Falcon was made in 92-93,then in 94 was introduced the Vision Falcon, your probably isn't ff capable, but one of the best Robertson ever made, very quiet too.No one of mine have a serial number.
Joe vt, It looks like a Prarie Falcon, so late 80s early 90s maybe? A very nice example too.
Dan the Prarie Falcons were produced before the 92.
cacciatore, thanks for the history on my recurve.
i wouldnt say it FF compatable and its only seen dacron. its the bow i compare all others to.
Me too Joe,so I need to send you a PM.
yup. Like I said late 80s early 90s. When was the break between the Prarie Falcon and the Perigrine falcon design? Seems like it was mid 80s? Do not put FF on that bow, Joevt. B50 only. I know: I still owe pics.
TTT
Woow factor has hit. Thanks
Awesome thread! But...it's threads like these that can sometimes lead to "marital disruption"! Thought I was set with my current shooters! But after this "picture show" I am itchin' to get a (Robertson) hopefully in the near future!
Time to bump this thread. Finally had the time and a nice enough day to take the Fatal Styk outside.

This bow is just amazing. I'm humbled by its beauty, smoothness and accuracy.
It looks to have been a very nice day!
I have a few myself. Great bows.
I've owned a number of Robertson recurves and longbows over the years. I bought my first Prairie Falcon in the 80s and I still own it. I also hunt with it periodically. Best grip (for me) that Dick ever designed. I shoot that bow almost unconciously well. I'm always on the lookout for another Prairie Falcon to add to the ones I own. I always remember to chide Dick for stopping production on this bow. Although I know I'm in the minority, I haven't had good luck with the current generation of riser style and grip. I've owned 3 and had to sell them all...that's how much better I shot my PFs.
Here's a vintage classic: Bocote riser, elm limbs, 62", custom scrim medallion inlay, Dall horn tips.

Kevin, your bows always have a something plus! You have a great taste on bows for sure!I had a prairie Falcon that i sold when Dick made the Montana, that I love and still own.Love that one too.
Thanks Felix. Coming from you, that's definitely "the pot calling the kettle 'black'". I'm always in awe of your tastes in fine bow weaponry...and the grapes!
I always thought Robertson's bows were like looking at finely crafted furniture. They sure are lookers.

This bow is just amazing. I'm humbled by its beauty, smoothness and accuracy.
very similar to my Fatal Styk...I wanted a Montana Falcon and called Dick to see if he had a used one or blemished one laying around collecting dust...ended up with this blemished (to Dick, not me) beauty. :) :)
Juniper limbs and myrtlewood riser accents...

Nice Vision!
I had the pleasure of hosting Vikki and Yote Robertson last week in Florida. They ran a booth at the Traditional Bowhunters of Fl shoot.
I was able to take Yote hog hunting where he took a HUGE HOG with a longbow. I would love to have the pic posted but cant seem to make it work . If someone could post it I would be grateful. Yote is a great hunter for sure

This is the pic that Don-alligatordond sent me of Yote Robertson's big boar.
Wow it is a nasty one!
He was big and nasty. Super cutters. About 225-250 lean pounds
Sending Yotes Hog ttt
