I haven't posted here for a while so I thought I would show you a bow that I made for a gentleman on the east side of the Cascades. Its bamboo backed Ipe with Osage power and handle laminations. The tips overlays are African Blackwood. Limb dimensions are 1" wide at the fades tapering to a little under ½" at the tips. The bow is 68" ntn and draws 48# @ 28". The back is stained with black and brown leather dye. The owner is new to archery and I wanted to make him a bow that would be easy to handle. So I made it a little long with a mild reflex/deflex profile. It holds about ½" of reflex at rest so it should be easy to string. The bow is stable and sends an arrow down-range with authority. I think he will like it and I hope you do.

Wow, Gordon, another beautiful example of your fine craftsmanship. Really like the unstrung profile of that bow. The whole thing just says "shoot me, I'm nice". I like it.
You done good. Beautiful bow. I've been considering buying the components to make just such a bow. Think you have just provided the incentive. What kind of weight can oner expect with a 64-66-inch length and 1 1/8 limb width?
Thank you Stan. I see you have gotten into the archery business. Do you make those bad-boy heads in a glue-on?
Thank you Orion. With Ipe and bamboo you could make an 80# bow with those dimensions if you wanted to.
Very handsome bow-great tiller too.
Gordon,
Did you meet Jim Fetrow in Portland? I visited him about 7 and 6 years ago. A really great guy.
Thank you Bjorn. I appreciate the nice compliment.
Jason, I have not yet met Jim. Though I have been meaning to track him down.

Beautiful bow - really like the stained bamboo.
Have a question - when making an ipe bow, how is important is it to have vertical grain is ipe more forgiving than other bow woods?
Thanks
