Trad Gang

I was thinking about putting together a one for one trade for an opportunity to meet someone new and see some cool arrows. I was thinking about drawing names and giving everyone a swap partner. The idea is to trade an arrow of yours for and arrow of someone elses.  Just take a arrow right out of the hunting quiver and trade it off. If anyone else is interested just reply and I will draw names and post the results. Everyone can pm for addresses. I am thinking about ending this jan.  31rst. Who's in?

I'll give her a try. Does it need to be a broadhead or any do field points work? You said hunting quiver is the only reason I'm asking.  :knothead:

it would be nice if they are sort of matched by spine - either way I will do it.

I was thinking hunting arrow, but I have seen some very cool target arrows as well and we wouldn't want to exclude our nonhunting brothers and sisters so lets just say all in. As fas as spine... I wasn't planning on shooting just a keepsake kind of thing.

I don't think it would be fair if I got in because there's about a 99.9% chance I didn't make the arrow..lol If that doesn't matter.. shoot! It wouldn't make any sense if it wasn't an arrow I made, would it?
I'll scrounge around there might be one left from my really sorry attempts at building them about 15 to 20 years ago.

Just in case I don't find one let me know your thoughts.

mudd, seeing as how you hate to build arrows I guess it's ok to use one you didn't make.

Can we use Left Handed Arrows? If so, I am in.

We're just gonna hang them on the rack to look at, so lefty arrows will be alright.

left,right,3,4,2. What ever you hunted with or really maybe just an arrow that says something about you. You can tell alot about a person by their arrow.

I have a nice Cedar Arrow spined for 55#, left or right handed, so I am in.

Let's do it.

If this works maybe we could do the same concept with bows.  I'd like to Bow Swap, for about 6 months, and then get my bow back. I don't want to sell them but I'd due a short term swap, just for fun.

At the end of the day I will put everyone who responded with the words I'm in or something of that nature into a hat and then post the names of your tradgang member to send to. The first name will send to the second, the second to the third and so on with the last name sending to the first. I can't wait to see mine. It is up to you to get in touch with your member to get addresses. I will post a pic of my new arrow when I get it. Hopefully everyone will too. Until tonight.  Dave

yeah I will draw names like I have said in all posts. I wil post the final list after interest has stopped or the 31st of jan whichever comes first. It looks like interest is fading, but I will give it a bit more time. I will change the topic after I draw the names. Everyone will be given a name to contact. Only send to one person as you will only have one name. This is not a "swap", more of a blind trade line. Hpe this clears any questions. Dave

I usually use a triangular box from the post office. That being said, they are not indestructible.

Fortunately, the two arrows inside were not broken. They are treasures sent to me by Charlie Lamb.

The very best packaging I have seen came from Dano. It was a heavy tube that fits inside another heavy tube (the inside tube is brown, the outside tube is white) and two foam disks inside that. Each disk has a hole in the center to hold the arrow, keeping it away from the wall of the tube. There is a metal cap at each end of the white tube. One end of the white tube has been circumferentially cut, making  a lid that you pull off. The fit is tight enough that when you pull the end off, there is a light vacuum created!

Very safe and rugged packaging. I am not that safe and rugged. First thing I did was cut myself on the wicked edge of his single-bevel trade point!   :rolleyes:

I am sending a carbon, so I don't expect that to get broken. If you send arrows in the mail, be sure to safeguard the heads, so that in the event of a package failure, nobody will get hurt. Parcels in the post office are frequently thrown ten or more feet, landing in big hampers. Sometimes your arrow may go in first, followed by a box of grapefruit going to my Aunt Thelma from Mr. Mergatroydd in Florida, so pack with that in mind. That being said, the USPS has a good reputation for getting stuff where it should go without a lot of trauma. I work for them, but that isn't why they are my shipper of choice.

How would this work? If I shoot 85# spined shafts and someone else shoots 50#...? Or are you just sending what you have and it doesn't matter?

We decided to just pull one out of your quiver and send it. Whether it be broadhead or field point. And it would be nearly impossible for all of us to match spine and length.
