I caught this sickness a few years back from a bow that JC has. Somehow it has laid dorment for the past few years. I am now having an outbreak. Thankfully I know the cure. I have to have a one-peice longbow cause I have figured out that is what I like.....so why not a foam cored Dakota. How about some comments on the Dakota from folks who own or have shot them. I draw 30" and like a light, quiet, fast bow. Let's see some pics too. Thanks in advance.
Oh, that's what I had several years back. Man, it creeps back up everytime I see one of his bows.
Never had a Dakota but I did have a Cougar a few years ago,,wish I'd never sold it,,fast, smooth and dead in the hand,,hope you get well soon
I've not shot the 1-piece Dakota, but I do have a Shawnee with carbon/foam limbs.
I'll not wax lyrical about how good it is. If you weren't born this morning, you already know that.
The one thing I do have to say, is that if you decide to buy a carbon/foam, go at least 2" longer than you'd normally buy. As a 30" draw-man myself, I can tell you first hand that Syntatic foam & carbon hurts like all hell when you have to pull it out of your face. It's not as forgiving of a long draw as maple or bamboo so you need to be a little more cautious & not push it's boundaries. It won't give you any warning either! I discovered that with these newer materials I have to shoot a minimum of 62" now & prefferably 64"+
Not wanting to put you off, I'd not part with my Morrisons for gold, just a word to the wise is all ;)
I was planning on doing foam and black glass. Black phenolic riser. I would go with a 64" bow. A 66" if he did one. The extra 4 fps I don't really need with my draw so I don't have to deal with the metalic sound that carbon makes. I know they can all blow up but I'm with you Rob. Having one blow up in your face would not be cool.
You guys make it sound like the foam limbs blow up is a common thing. Hasn't been my experience. Guess I'm lucky. 700 for foam limbs, shouldn't break ever.
Nobody said it was common. Any bow could blow up made from any material from any bowyer. Having a long draw is a different animal and Rob just shared his experience and I value his opinion very high.......now let's see some pics.
