Post by: scottm on January 21, 2010, 11:41:00 AM
I was on binghams site.I want to make some strings for my dad and I.I was thinking about just ordering some dacron to practice with first sence its less expensive. What type and size of serving material will I need.Ive had diffrent strings in the past but my favorite serving is on my Mojo stik from whisperstick bows. What would you fellas recommend? And Which serving tool?

I would just use some No.4 nylon serving I believe it is .021 diameter,it's inexpensive and works great on dacron. It is around $4 compared to $15 to $25 for serving that many use on modern strings, you can use No.4 on the new materials also.As for serving tools,I have and use Bohning,Cavalier,Cajun any of those will work fine.

If your running small nocks, use 3 1/2 braid. Much stronger, smaller diameter

I like a little larger serving my self.We mostly shoot aluminium or wood.I know the serving size I like is a little tight with carbons.I just like my arrow to barely snap on the string but if i lightly tap the string it should fall off. Some of the strings on my bows I feel the serving is too loose for the nocks we use.(arrow falls of while knocking or at full draw)I dont like that at all.
