Need some new camo for Turkeys this spring... If you use the Predator Camo which do you like better? The Green Deception seems to be a bit darker overall... Leaning towards the Spring Green, but still open...
Let's hear it...
Spring Green, for sure. It also works really well for early season deer and for spring bear hunting.
I took photos of both and the Spring green breaks up the form better, at least to my eye. I also prefer Fall Brown to regular Deception--they should still be making it!
I like the green deception but I haven't seen the spring green. I'll have to look into it.
I think you know my answer.
Green Deception is what I use, I've had turkeys with in a couple of feet of me, literally, deer as well! If you fool a Turkeys, your in there!
Well after looking at them both I'd say you can't go wrong with either. I do believe that the spring green pattern is a more versatile pattern an could be used in just about any season or terrain. Wish my local shop would've had that pattern when I bought all my deception stuff.
In the right material, I prefer the Spring Green. As much as I love my Predator Brown Wolfskin, I had the same clothing in green and I found it to be too "shiny". If it can be had in cotton, which should be fine in the warmer spring temperatures, I think the Spring Green would work very well. Mike
PLAID!!
Deception would be my choice Jeff.
The way I understood it, the Deception patterns were originally designed for BIG objects like ground blinds. I like Spring Green regardless.
Jeff,
I have used both and honestly if comes down to what you like better.
The base colors are basically the same and both blend well with early season foliage.
Basically you can not go wrong with either and like I wrote above the decision is really which one do you like better.
Check out the pictures on the predator camo site and you will see what I am talking about
Spring green. It breaks up your outline MUCH better.
get both
Jeff,
I think Spring Green would be more versatile, but if you are consistently backing into dark green trees or bushes like cedars, then Deception Green might be better. The Deception tends to "blob up" more than the Spring Green does.
I'm still trying to figure out what Terry's choice would be. :saywhat: I know he does seem to like GREEN!

Green Deception
I think they are both good patterns, I have Spring green and really like it.
I have always said the Big Major Camo companies have too dark camo, especially for Georgia where it is green from March to November.
I just don't understand why Predator is so expensive for a pair of cotton pants :(
either one will do the trick...only camo i own or ever will own.good stuff for sure
spring green on top...deception on the bottom...I usually wear a combination of camo...
For me it would be hands down Spring Green. Green Deception, while good, wouldn't even be a close second.
The spring green is a great pattern. Have a friend wear some step back thirty yards and check it out. No blobing the stuff is great. I put mine in the wash with a bit of rit dark green dye. It toned ever so slightly, it's perfect.
I have both and prefer spring green in both the spring and the early fall season.
David
They made a very nice original product, then they wanted to make some more realistic, both are good but I stay with the spring green.
Glad my thinking isn't out of the norm... I think the Green Deception would work OK, but I also think the Spring Green is a better pattern overall.
Like a lot of other camo patterns (Mossy Oak, Realtree, etc...), I think the Green Deception is more to catch the eye of the hunter rather than hide your form from critters...
As most of us know you can use just about anything and get close to most critters, but if you want an edge, breaking your form through actual deception (i.e. camo) you should use a pattern that actually can do/does this.
Jeff, My two cents :D
If this is mostly for your spring turkey hunting...I'd pick Deception Green...here's why.
Even though I think Spring Green is a better overall pattern for most critters, and will make you literally disappear in most conditions, especially with green backrounds....
When I used to hunt turkeys without a blind, with bow...I used a lot of different camo's(camo junkie)...and as much as I luv'd my Predator camo(it was my fave) and wanted to use it....it seemed that somehow the turkeys would pick me up more often when wearing it...
I think the "lightness/brightness of color" was catching the turkeys keen eyes more than the subdued patterns I was also using at times.
Just my findings with turkeys....
So for me, for turkeys, my personal choice would be the Deception...overall, it's just not as light/bright...
You asked :biglaugh: ;)
That does make sense, especially when you tuck yourself into the shadows more often than not...
Thanks Curt for throwing a wrench into the works... ;)
I like to use my Dark Horse when I can, and I wear black when I'm in it, but for them times I'm running and gunning I'd like to give myself the best chances...
Still thinking I guess...
Spring green!
Sorry bud :(
