Who's going? Roger Rothhaar(whitetails), robert north(putting the fun back in bowhunting), mike yancey(Making self bows), bryan simmons(flintknapping 101)>
wow, GONNA BE GOOD!!!!!!!!
Where and when is this event???
It is Feb. 5,6 and 7. It is in Jeff City,Mo. at the Truman Hotel. Saturday is the big day, with the banquet, seminars and vendors with their displays. This year's speaker will be Roger Rothaar and Mike Yancey will do a selfbow presentation. You can still get tickets for the banquet. Anyone can show up for the vendors and displays, I think it is a 5 or 7 dollar charge. Black Widow is always there and nice enough to always raffel of a bow.
Greg if ya can get away you should. The speakers should be great and the dinner and raffle is alot of fun. Some great vendors too.
Bret
If one can only make one day, I'd say that day should be Sat.
If I can figure out how to go ahead a buy my way in for Sat. I'll pay up quickly.
It's too bad that hunters of all kinds don't think to check what else might be happening at the same time. There's a Mountain man trade fair that same weekend right here in Ashland(too bad) but the UBM has priority. I'll try to drop by the MM Fair but the lions share of my time is going to be spend in Jeff City with good like-minded folks.
I look forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones. I might even be convinced to fling an arrow or two but I'll try not to hog the range..lol
Thanks for the reminder!!
God bless,Mudd
If you go to the United Bowhunters of Missouri website (www.unitedbowhunters.com) you can get more info about the festival. The best way is to click on the Newsletter link and look at the Winter 2009 issue. It has all the info about the event that you should need.
Sorry to correct you, Missouri Bowman, but the guest speaker this year is Robin Parks of Aim Low Productions. Roger Rothhaar will be putting on a question-and-answer type seminar that day.
If anyone needs any more information, don't hesitate to contact me!
Darren Haverstick
Vice President - United Bowhunters of Missouri
I just figured out I have to work on Saturday or I would be up. But I would like to congratulate
Darren on the excellent job he did scheduling speakers!
A friend and myself will be there. Does anyone know if the Mike the bowyer that is from Kansas he is just across from Kansas City if he will be there?
Easy there Scott or you'll be giving Darren the big head and all. He's already practically a dictator now that he has the title "vice president". oooolllaaaalaaaa. :biglaugh:
Bret
You thinking of Mike Dunnaway? Maybe someone knows Darrell.
I used to be a member but let it lapse when I moved away to TX. I need to get signed back up.
I'd love to go but I'd have to take off work to do it and I don't know if I can swing it. If I do, I'll be looking for ya Mudd.
Mike Dunnaway of Wild Horse Creek Bows and Mike Horton from The Nocking Point will be in the vendors area along with Black Widow bows, Mike Yancey, Robin Parks, and many others.
Look me up if you come! I will probably be hanging out in the seminar room.
Darren
PS. MoHillbilly, drop and give me twenty!
Is Jim Reynolds(Thunderstick) coming that you know of?
Hey Dave!
I hope you can make it, I always enjoy seeing your smiley face. As you know I'm not hard to find as I'm usually a crowd all by myself..lol
God bless,Mudd
I'll be there in the morning both Sat. and Sunday, but have to go to work Saturday. Hope to meet some of you guys there so I can put faces with names! Mark
Yes, Jim Reynolds indicated he would be there. You don't have to be a member to come. Stop in and look around. We also have photo contest and silent auction during the day Sat plus all the seminars.
Dan Novotny
Treasurer--United Bowhunters of MO
Hey Roy, did you ever get a hold of Jim Johnson? He used to always be at all the UBM events.
dnovo,
What are the current dues rates and the prices for the banquet and stuff like that? If I can make it I'd like to join back up again. When is the cutoff for the banquet or is there one?
I'll be there is spirit guys, pretty long comute any more... :( Have fun!!
I will be there most of the day Saturday. Hope to see y'all there.
I have a bird hunt on Saturday that I have to attend. This will be the first festival I've missed in four years. Everyone try to attend if possible these are a lot of fun.
In June I will be in Hermann for sure.
John III
Daily walk-through passes are available, $5.00 for members, $7.00 for non-members. If you join as a member ( $25.00 ) at the festival, your walk-through pass is free. Check out the UBM website www.unitedbowhunters.com (http://www.unitedbowhunters.com)
Dave...I plan on going down Friday afternoon and head back home Saturday afternoon, after everything shuts down for the day. I'm flexible, if you can go, we can ride down together.
Doug...I know everyone would be glad to see you again.
I'll be there Sat.
Ill see ya for breakfast Jerry.
I will be heading down Friday and leaving very early Sunday morning to go to Texas for a couple weeks of hogs and javies. Find me hanging around Jim Reynold's booth or wandering.
This is one of my favorite gatherings, good folks, small scale that feels personal, and a great chance to visit lots of trad archer friends. There are some great bargains at the banquet live auction - I always leave with stuff.
We will be there. Can't wait for Mike Yancey's seminar.
Roger @ Black Widow
Hi Rick,
IF I was able to go, it would have to be leaving here on Saturday morning and coming back late Saturday night. I'm second shift and leaving Friday evening would mean taking off two days from work instead of one. If that would work for you, we could maybe work something out. Got a new VW Jetta that's fun to drive and great on gas.
By the way, does the club have any plans for the wives? I recall that at the summer rendezvous they always had some sort of womens tour planned but that was in Herman. Maybe if there is something for the women I could bring my wife along and make a night of it?
Dave,
There's nothing planned for the womenfolk other than toting around all the goodies that the menfolk buy;)
Darren
See, there it is again......"Dictator"......rules with an iron fist...... he he :readit:
Ohhhh. The SE Iowa bunny hunt is the same weekend. Maybe we can all drop down and hit the UBM as well!
Mudd-any info on the Mountain Man event? Web-site?
Dave, like Rick said dues are $25/yr. There are always some banquet tickets left for last minute if you can do it. We would love to have you back in the fold. Look me up if you make it.
Dan
The Festival tops the list of things I miss the most. There's not a better group of friends and dedicated bowhunters gathered in one spot. Hope ya'll have a good time I'll be there in spirit. One of these years I'll burn some air miles and sneak in. Gotta get my winning Widow ticket mailed in soon. Best regards to all! The girls say hello too. Dave
We miss you too David!! Have you scraped out a bow lately?
Katie- there isn't a web site. It's the 1st time event and its happening at the Copper Kettle here in Ashland. That's just one block off of 63 hwy, they have a huge sign out on the hwy so its not hard to find plus Ashlands' not that big..lol
God bless,Mudd
I'll be there both days. Swing by the Compton booth and say hi.
Bob Burns
Dave...let me know if you can get Saturday off. Leaving Saturday morning will work for me.
Dave, Yeah it would be great if you ever get the chance to come back and see us. Or maybe you could just take turns inviting all of us up to Alaska to see you. A couple of us have been talking about a bear hunt up there again. Good to hear from you.
Dan
Hey Dave
I sure miss seeing you and the girls running around. How has Alaska been treating you
