If my memory serves me correctly I had the honor of being John's eyes at Cloverdale quite a few years back. The man is amazing and that's putting it mildly.
God bless,Mudd
... yes he is ! Ha ....John, we have some stories don't we ...lol!!!! Ya I'll keep my mouth shut !!! Hmmmmm!
Haven't seen John since PBS at Pittsburgh. I always say, "Hello John, good to see you again" and he deadpans, "Hello Bill, nice to SEE you again".
John Rook is admired by all that know him. He has more ambition and love for hunting than I would ever have if in his condition. I am amazed at what the man can do. He is an inspiration to all.
Uncle Gene and I were standing there talking to John at one of the PBS banquest, I can't remember which one, a nice looking girl walks by and Gene pushes John towards her and asks her, "Hey, how do you feel about a blind date"?
Gary Davis showed me a Selfbow and flemish string John made!
Try that with your eyes closed!
I don't think he has a problem with target panic, though! :D
I think I know him ,seems like he always hangin on your arm!....Tim
I hear that John is going to be at the PBS Banquet in Nashville. I sure hope so, it wouldn't be the same without him there.
I was on an antelope camp in Wyoming with him one time. Great guy love his sprit and drive.
Jack
I'm with you Kevin, he IS PBS.
At one time he held the world record for Red Deer. Not sure if he still does. Amazing guy.
I Have Johns old bow fishing Rig. I hope to see Him at KZOO.
I look forward to seeing John at Compton or ETAR each year. He is great to talk with. He always says how I look like I've lost weight. Makes me feel good.
Hey wait a minute, did you say he's blind.
Dang it!
Mike
I managed to make it to ETAR in the Summer of 08 and had the pleasure of spending hours chatting with John. He is quite an amazing guy. Interesting part of the story is that he was sitting quietly at the Kota Bows table. I am fondling bows as usual and I look up to see John and my mouth drops open. Well, i am just without words. I walk away from the table and realize it might be a huge mistake not to introduce myself. For once i was right. After a brief introduction he invites me to sit down and we spent two hours talking bow hunting and life. That day will stay with me forever.

Yup John is pretty amazing!! I never heard of him before and then I sat in a seminar he gave at the Kalamazoo show a few years ago. I was floored by all that he had done in his life!!
What I love about John is you can go a year or two with out talking to him and slip up behind him at a shoot or show somewhere( as if you had to slip) and whisper in his ear and he knows exactly who ya are.
Another neat story.. at the ETAR a few years ago
Clark Gallup had a few mega WT sheds 90" plus one by 1 I brought them to John and using his fingers he was able to score each antler within an inch...
........John has done amazing things ! But to me he's just a friend thats no different than you and me. "Real Man"
Mark - That is is exactly right. He remembers nearly every voice.
He said he loved "watching" Primal Dreams.
He got a new audible print scanner/reader so he can now "read" old flat paper books, and it has opened up a new world for him. I love that guy! Mike
Hopefully You all can meet him sometime !!!
