I have been wondering were a bow that had was and if the person who has it is still shooting it or if it was just sitting in the closet. It is a Toelke Whip with bocote riser and zebra wood limbs. It has my name on it and #56@27 3/4.
How many other have just really felt like crap after getting rid of one of there bows and what bow was it?
Thanks,
Chris Kiefner

I wish I still had my old Black Widow MAB(black finish MA series recurve) take down. I killed my first and second whitetail deer(a doe and then a buck) with it in 1997.
:( :banghead:
-
I never was able to kill a deer with the bow I really miss but it was my first custom bow. I can imagine if I would of killed my first deer with it.

yes i do. but the funny thing is i still got it. its just not in a shootable condition. it is a vine maple self bow . mit was given to me by batman aka don batten. it cracked on the upper limb and has been held on to ever since. it was a great shootin bow.

My "regrettable" sell was a DAS Master Hunter. This thread is perfect timing, since I just placed a want ad to try to buy another one..
-
Man I do, My first trad bow was Bear Montana and I sold it and wish I still had it
-
I tried to put a wanted to find ad but for some reason I couldn't get one started in the classifieds. It had me thinking about starting a thread and seeing if anyone else had any regrets after getting rid a bow that they knew were going to want it back not to long after they got rid of it.

I bought my first hunting weight recurve, a 1967 ½ Bear SK for $25. I shot it for a year or so and bought a new CKTD. I then didn’t feel the need for a crappy old bow and sold it for $35, smiling as I took my $10 profit to the bank. Four years later I didn’t feel quite as good about the deal and managed to buy it back for $50. I shoot it weekly and I’m not going to let it go again.

those old brar bows have a following
-
bear bows I mean
-
I made a really nice sturgeon skin backed self bow w recurved tips 50@27 that shot great, low shock just a pretty bow. Some guy offered me cash at a shoot and like an idiot I took the money! really dumb move.

money usually does the talking sometimes.

I really miss my 21st century,a friend of mine has it.I will get it back some day.
-
Partners 62" 61@28. Let a "buddy" take it on a hog hunt. I guess he like it more than I did.
-
Only about 40 or so! I had to sell a bunch when I couldn't pull the weight. I guess the ones I really wish I had back are the pair of Hill takedowns I had Craig make. Ah, well, I recently made my own pair... but I still wish I had the Hills.

I wouldn't mind letting someone borrowing a bow of mine, but I don't know if I would let them keep it without saying something to them. I am nice but not that nice.

I found my bow that I miss! I do not know if I can afford to get it back though, I hope that I can.

I had an old 45# Bear Grizzly that I shot when I was a teenager. I practically gave it away at some garage sale and wish I had it back.

I traded a Horne TD Mountain bow....regretted it immediatly...so I traded a different bow for it back.
-
I really miss my Neil Tarbell 46# at 28" 58 AMO.
Great little bow from a great bowyer.
-
I had a LAG once, but had a custom bow on order, so I sold it. First shot I took with it was a bullseye, been looking for another ever since.
-
There's bow out there I've never owned, only shot... but I miss it...lol I am trying my best to bring it home! It hates where it's living and I could actually tell it wanted to come home with me. It wouldn't kill the deer for its owner but whispered to me it would do whatever I wanted.
God bless,Mudd
PS It's a M.O.A.B. 55@28 but wants to be called a M.O.A.N. until it changes its current residence to mine.
-
Sounds like you need to do a little more convincing to the guy that has your bow.hahaha

I truly miss Little Mo, the Zebra/Walnut H56 I sold awhile back. I flat out loved that little bow, but the small sight window just didn't fit my form & shooting style.
Don't recall who I sold it to, but I bet he wouldn't part with her no that he has her...
-
Maybe you will get lucky and he will see this thread and ask you.
Thanks for the kind gesture Philip (spotteddog), I really appreciate it.

Nice talking to you chris like I said I will get in the mail later this week. And I did get your address in the email

I had a Marriah Williwaw, 45# @ 27" that was a great shooting bow. It was originally owned by Pinecone. Had her name on it. I should have kept that one. Jim
-
It was a Morrison recurve, cocobolo riser with antler overlay, diamondback skins on the limbs with antler tips.......

If anyone out there finds any of bows with the name Roy Williams or Mudd in them would you please e-mail me? I'm not saying I can or would buy them back but it might not stop me from trying..lol
Thanks in advance!
God bless,Mudd
PS this is also sort of a self test to see just how many I can;t or don't remember...lol

An old Grizzly and Kodiak Magnum I bought many years ago. Kinda like the soft spot i have for my first vehicles (1972 Int. scout ll, and a 1970 Monte Carlo)
-
...so many to list !!! But I'll never let go a sinew backed selfbow by my dear friend Norm Blaker (Mich.) !!!! :)
-
I miss them all ! I had a shop fire in Nov. and lost 13 bows . The Monarch , Northwind and the Widow the most . Insurance covered little of the loss , anyone know where i can find a set of limbs resonable for a SAB in the 52-60# range?
-
Thanks again Philip. I say that we keep this going so folks can find there bows that they really miss and would like to try and get them back or know about there where abouts. What does everyone else think about that?

I won't be able to find it, but my stepdad had a Kmag and I think it was from the sixties. He passed on in 82" and I wonder what my mother did with that bow. He had already given me a Bear A mag takedown so I can't complain, and mom gave me most of his really good stuff, Although I would trade it all back and plenty more to see the old man again.
-
Sold my Wing P11 that I bought new in 1970. Bow was a 9 out of 10. Should never have sold it.
-
I hate that I sold my PSA-X Ironwood riser and osage limbs . I bought new osage limbs now I need to find a riser.
-
Would this qualify?

Chris Kiefner
-
No,because I don't like to sell my bows. But when I sell something it is because I am sure i have a better one.
-
If you have had lot of them, there is always one that you will miss. Just like guns, cars and women!

-
The first recurve I bought was a Browning fire drake I stumbled on in a pawn shop, I bought it for a $100 and kept it for about 5/6 years then sold it to a friend for what I had in it.
Sevral times I've asked to buy it back but he wont budge, I'd love to have that one back, nothin like a custom bow I guess but was a nice bow to me.
