Whats everyones idea of the best string material?
Im liken Ultra Cam
D-97 this year
blue
B500 Dacron cause it's cheap and goes on any bow...
The bow I'm shooting now seems to feel best with ts-1. I have used D-97 and B-50 depending on the individual bow.
I like D97,450+ and just rying out some 8125.
It's like changing hats. What ever fits best at the time.
Dynaflight '97 or Formula 8125. How the string is made can make as much or more difference than the material, not to mention tuning, silencer placement, nock fit, etc.
Chad
B5 Dacron Flemish Twist Blue & White, or Black & Green.
Dynaflight 97

Have just made a few strings for others out of UltraCam and can tell you it is one nice material.
Most of the bows I shoot have Dyna97 and I am planty satysfied. But to be sure wich one is the best you have to compare different strings with a speedometer and bare shaft all the different set ups.Too time to loose for me,I don't think it worths to make a such accurate research,I am pretty sure they are equivalent.
Another vote for D97.
D 97
D-97 & TS1+
8125 by far.
8125 man can it make a bow come alive.
Was using 8 strand D97 and now experimenting with ultracam in the off season and liking it so far.
D97 for me.
i spin and use dyneema'02 6 and 8 strand skinny padded loop strings. dyneema'02 is the low wax version of dynaflight'97.
low wax hmpe is best for endless strings - less wax weight. flemish requires a fair amount of wax to help the twists stay put. dunno of any other modern low wax fiber other than d'02, and that's the main reason i use it. as long as the strand count is around 100# any hmpe fiber is fine with me. skinny strings don't make much noise. :saywhat: :)
I've only tried B50, D97 and finally UltrCam all in endless loop. I'm loving this ultra cam and don't see me changing for a good while, atleast till this spool runs out which appears to be a long time!
TS1+ Just put it on last week and it seems much quiter and has not streched at all yet.
8125
Currently using D97 on my La Clair Grayling Spirit Recurve. 12 Strand padded loops
And B50 on the Wapiti TD and Strunk Spirit LB.
Have any of you tried the D75 thin. I came into a spool of it and was wondering how it compared with the other..Thanks for all the info by the way..
Ultra Cam
Ultra Cam for me.
A lot of fine string makers in our ranks. Who works with Ultra Cam?? I'd like to give it a try.

Been using B-50 forever, still works. Imagine that. Always figured the few feet per second you pick up is not worth the life of a bow, when you dry fire it. Haven't dry fired your bow yet, you don't shoot enough.

Don't know how it is all going to compare just yet but I need to thank Bob Morrison for giving us a heads up on the NEW D-10 material from BCY.

We are currently building some strings for Bob and us to test as I type. The big, big, big, advantage here, after just getting off the phone with Ray from BCY over D-97 is creep. This stuff does not move. It is made with 100% "SK78" Dyneema. I will be receiving some preliminary test results from them on how it preformed in tests against D-97 and some other similiar materials.
We are especially interested in this material for our new SBD "Ultra" HP 6strand strings for bows of less than 53#s
If it is better that D-97 I'm sure we will have a winner. As always we are trying to learn and improve upon what we do everyday.
Thanks and God Bless, Pierre and Jean-Pierre
8125 for me
Pierre, have you heard if they are going to use that SK78 in 8125? Right now I like the smaller strand. Dang I just bought a spool of 8125.
I just don't see creep being a problem on a trad bow. So what if you have to spin the string up a little after about 500 shots. It really is no trouble to me, in order to have the smaller faster strand. Of course I use a flemish, which is adjustable. I guess after further thinking, if you are using an endless loop, creep might be more of a problem.
Endless loop creeps much less and can be adjusted the same way as flemish.
I don't know V, I have had a couple of bows with those endless loops on them and I don't think spinning them too much was the hot set up. Just learn to ti a Flemish.
Larry,
Didn't really discuss 8125 as our focus was more on the D-10.
Creep really isn't a problem but it would great not to have to even think about it.
God Bless, Pierre
Fastflight on longbows. Dacron on recurves. THe dacron is quieter on the recurves.
B500 or B50 is all I use even though I know fastflight and its equivalents would give me a few feet per second. I'm shooting bows over forty years old and they are still going strong. To me, its not worth the risk to my bows to go low-stretch. If I was shooting light weight bows- 55# or under I might give it a whirl but I hope I'm around to see how many contemporary bows in hunting weights are around forty years from now. I doubt I make it, but I doubt the bows do either. Grant
I like 450+ on my longbows.
D-97 or b-50 for me.
Dyneema 78 has been around in bowstrings for a while as Angel Majesty. I'll probably tinker with the Dyna 10, but seeing how Angel hasn't exactly taken the archery world by storm the last 10 years or so I have my reservations.
B-50 and can shoot it on all my bows.
Pierre,
I sent you an email. Thanks
D-97 and 8125 for me.
Don
"Endless loop creeps much less and can be adjusted the same way as flemish."
That depends on how the string was made, how many strands, whether or not it was pre-stretched, etc. A properly made 8125 flemish string will creep very little. A 12 strand endless dacron string on a 55# bow will creep quite a bit.

I like 452x 8 strands with padded loops,, any of B.C.Y. materal is good d97 or 8125 or 450 all top shelf :bigsmyl:
